INFERENCES

Proposed Public Transport Network

The growth and direction of urban agglomeration is towards northern and southern parts of Mysore due to industrial development along the Mysore Nanjangud Corridor and the development of BMIC Chamundi hills have been made as reserve forest since 1995 and they are a part of the Comprehensive development plan only since 2011.

Proposed Road Network

The Government should take steps to conserve Chamundi Hills and its ecosystem instead of implementing the project, which will add to the ecological stress.

The option for city expansion instead of north and south direction can be altered to east – west direction.

Implementation needs a new regulation for above said geographical factors such as protection of the catchment area, greenbelt and open space, water sheet etc. and there is a need of strong planning.

Lack of affordable housing, disappearance of inner residential areas and green belts. The master plans should revive the water tanks in order to protect the ground water recharge and the dried lakes needs to be rejuvenated of its greenery by the MUDA/ Master plan

Learning thorough increasing scales, The city where we live in, An area of 1sq. km. which was studied during the Foundation studio of the previous semester was analyzed and solutions were proposed for the existing issues on site.

Development plan of other cities and DP Mechanisms Development plans/ Master Plans differ across Indian cities and abroad was analyzed to know the varying context every city has and how the implementation of these plans is customized to every city.

Studying the Transport network, A series of 48 different cities were chosen and the road network analysis for every city was done to understand the city scale, road network, pattern, block size it is serving to that particular population.

Ring road and RUDA boundary Revenue generation

Proposal of a Development Plan in groups of 4, The city of Rajkot in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat was studied through multiple site visits and stake holder meetings and the proposal for Development Plan for 2041 was made for Rajkot. Frequent inputs from faculty, stakeholders on site and inputs from RMC and RUDA officials has made us achieve the presented Rajkot DP so far.
