INTRO

DEAR AMBASSADORS DeepOcean’s performance is to a large extent measured by the operational success of our employees, vessels and mission equipment on the projects we are executing. Still our Clients’ perception of quality and service levels starts long before we display our operational talents.

I am an engineer by background, I do not have a degree in marketing, neither a PhD in subsea nomenclature, but I am very dedicated to branding and in developing our DEEPOCEAN brand in particular. Maybe you think we lack an appealing visual appearance, have a crowded webpage, or we have less presence in the media or at exhibitions than some of our competitors. However we are always working on our branding and culture, and so are YOU by showing interest in our Group Newsletter and reading this article. Pretentious populist nonsense from a marketing guy..? NO, not really. I firmly believe that we are all interested in doing a good job for our company. We may have different priorities in life, they may change over time, and we define success in multiple ways during our career. Acknowledgement can be equally rewarding whether it being a contract award, project team achievements, client recognition after a successful operation, or by completing yet another task safely. DeepOcean is a well-known brand in some regions but unknown to key operators in other regions. Building customer awareness and market trust takes time. Brand building is a team effort, and you’re on the DeepOcean team. You chose to contribute to building the DeepOcean culture the day you joined our company. Together we are responsible for the DeepOcean culture, which has been built over decades with late hours in the offices, rough days at sea, and a lot of fun and useful experience on the way. This is what our clients experience – this is what we are proud of. How do we get this message across to our Clients and other important stakeholders? Communication is key. We have press

releases on group level, senior management informing at internal events such as town hall meeting and external conferences, and glossy marketing material. All well, but the real power is in our communication with clients, colleagues, sub-contractors and in our private social networks. DeepOcean publishes information in different online channels. Our webpages have been online for some years already, the new Intranet has been released, and we recently celebrated 25 000 followers on LinkedIn. The latter is an example of how communication lines and social behaviour has changed over the recent years. 25 000 people have an interest in following DeepOcean’s achievements on LinkedIn. A lot of them are probably interested in joining DeepOcean, but potentially others are future clients and clients. This shows how important it is for us to share information. Our CEO, Bart Heijermans, is a strong advocate of sharing NON-CONFIDENTIAL information on social media. It takes years to build a company and a strong reputable brand. We all own the brand so please be careful and cherish it. Realize that when you work you represent our company and brand. Last but not least it would be greatly appreciated if you can contribute to this newsletter and share your experiences with our colleagues.

Do you feel any pride? You’re an ambassador for DeepOcean culture. I like your A for Attitude.

E& We are all very familiar with safety compliance and reporting. After all, it is a huge part of our industry. INTRODUCTION TO DEEPOCEAN ETHICS & COMPLIANCE

We are all very familiar with safety compliance and reporting. After all, it is a huge part of our industry. Ask anyone at DeepOcean what HSE stands for and not one person will have difficulty explaining the abbreviation and pointing to the relevant policies required at the worksite. Are we just as familiar with E&C? In our poll in 2011, at the formation of DeepOcean as one company, we have chosen “Integrity” as one of our core values. Indeed, it is one of the cornerstones to our success, and we are committed to doing business with integrity and upholding the highest ethical standards wherever we operate.

Our CEO says: “At DeepOcean Group, we take very seriously our responsibility to act safely, ethically, and fairly in everything we do. This is not just talk – we aim to walk the talk each and every day. All of us, myself included. Whether it is performing a job offshore, negotiating a contract on shore or discussing a sensitive issue with employees in one of our offices, we are always guided by our core operating principles, which include safety, and openness and honesty.”

DeepOcean’s E&C policies (yes, we do have them!) set forth our organisation’s expectations for conduct and offer guidelines for legal and ethical behaviour. Those four main pillars of our Ethics & Compliance program include our Business Conduct & Ethics Policy, Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption Policy, Financial Code of Ethics, and the Insider Trading Policy. You will find them in the E&C section of our new intranet.

MEET THE COMPLIANCE TEAM

So how is it that we know so little about our E&C program? Most of us have received training in the top two of our policies (those who have not – do not fret, you will soon receive an invitation email! But how much do we remember? Do we know where to find the policy once the training is completed and (heavens forbid!) forgotten? Who do we speak to if we have an ethical concern or problem? Hopefully, this section will help in answering some of those questions.

At times, we all may face ethical dilemmas or difficult situations at work. The right way to act may not always be clear. It’s best to seek help before undertaking an action that may be unethical or illegal. Our Business Conduct & Ethics Policy and other policies can give you valuable guidance. You may also discuss the situation with your manager. If you are not comfortable talking to your manager, speak with another manager or contact the DeepOcean Compliance Team. You may reach us at compliance@deepoceangroup.com. ETHICS HOTLINE

To report a violation of the law or any of our policies, you may also call the DeepOcean Ethics Hotline at +1-855-2127614 (local dial numbers are also available online). The Hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is operated by an independent company, who will speak your language and ensure confidentiality and anonymity (if desired) of the information provided in the report.

Regulatory Affairs Manager

At the beginning of this section, HSE was mentioned. This was by no coincidence. As stated earlier, we all have a very mature safety culture which we maintain and benchmark through regular safety reporting. Our E&C culture requires the same approach. By seeking clarifications and reporting violations we all play a key role in protecting and building our organisation’s good name. So, if you have any questions regarding our policies, speak up – talk to your manager, the Compliance Team, or enter a question through the

Hotline. The details are on our intranet or directly at www.deepoceangroup. ethicspoint.com. You may be assured that DeepOcean does not tolerate or permit retaliation against anyone who makes a report in good faith. Each member of DeepOcean staff, whether permanent or temporary, is the key to our continued success. When you comply with our E&C Policies, you help our organization act with honesty and integrity in all our business dealings, and make our organization a place we can all be proud to work in.

HSE

“SHH… BE CAREFUL. THE SAFETY GUY IS COMING TO CHECK AND SPY ON US” “Oh no, here comes trouble”. “The messenger of inconvenience is upon us!” These are just some of the phrases that most people commonly associate with HSE personnel, especially so when we get to site or vessels. Considering this kind of negative attitude towards the HSE department and its personnel, I decided to make it a personal goal when I boarded the Volantis to see if such attitude really exists and what I can do to make a difference.

As I attended the compulsory drug and alcohol test prior to boarding the crew board for transfer to the Volantis, I began to wonder if I can accomplish this personal goal that I set myself. When I completed the transfer from the crew boat to the Volantis, I was greeted very warmly by the Marine Crew as well as the DeepOcean Crew. To this I was very pleasantly surprised as it immediately eased my pre-misconceptions that I may have had earlier during the day. During my 2 rotations on the Volantis, DeepOcean carried out several tasks such as the installation of Suction Piles Subsea and Touchdown Monitoring of the 8” & 10” pipeline. Being on board the Volantis really opened my eyes on how safety actually performs on paper and onsite. When it comes to health, I will happily dive into food and fitness. Seamen from past will tell you horror stories about meatballs so tough that they bounced off the wall when thrown and etc. These days, food served on the Volantis comes in a wide variety to satisfy taste buds of many. Don’t believe me?? Just look at the photos below on the gourmet selection that I was fed with (desserts included). Feeling bloated and guilty after all that food or just one of those times when I feel a ‘ROCKY’ moment coming on. Access to the gym is just a walk away on the Volantis so there is no reason for me to not use the gym to stay healthy whilst being offshore.

DEEPOCEAN PARTICIPATES IN GOLF TOURNAMENT

(AND ALMOST TAKES THE TOP SPOT) On Thursday the 3rd of September the first Dutch Oil & Gas Golf Tournament was organized by Golfclub Regthuys (Winkel) in association with DSE, NHN and BR&MARION. In the past we have seen all kinds of tournaments including football, squash etc but this was the first golf tournament. There were contenders from all parts of the Netherlands from companies linked to the offshore industry.

DeepOcean was invited by Seamar Shipping BV to take part in this event. Since a number of years we as BV have a steady group of enthusiastic golfers and we also infected Seamar with the same bug. We took part with two golfers namely Arjan van Kampen and myself. After registration and a welcome lunch the 18 holes tournament started. For novices a clinic was organized which also had quite a few people participating. When finally the rain stopped the first balls were hit and eagerly followed to see how they were flying. It was quite clear that the course was in excellent condition despite the amount of rain from the last couple of days. ‘Flights’

(divisions) were randomly formed from the companies attending which made it a very good networking occasion. But first we needed to focus on the game at hand. Our Arjan, well known around our home course for his long distance shots, proved to be in excellent shape. He took his fellow flight members by the hand to end up with, what proved to be in the end an excellent score. When all flights finished their round all contenders grouped together in the clubhouse for some well-deserved refreshments and a BBQ meal. The scores were counted and the award ceremony started.

Author: Leo Grout, Technical Manager Operations, Den Helder

There were prizes in several categories for those who took part in the workshop, he or she who managed to “beat the pro” and the total individual overall score. It was in this last category where we as DeepOcean were on the competitive edge and as a result we ended up with two prizes. Arjan ended as runner up (2nd place) and undersigned as 20th which to my surprise was also awarded?? All in all a very enjoyable day, despite the weather, and good to see that still quite a number of people took the time and effort to take part in this event. Hopefully again next year where we then shall aim for the # 1 spot……

HM QUEEN SONJA’S PANORAMIC HIKING TRAIL

From left to right: Berit Hagland, Hege Helleberg Rovik, Reidun Norenes, Laila Thorvik, Marianne Mjølhus Hovda, Astrid Beate Noss, Elin Eikevik Nesheim, Christin Selsaas Buckland and Hilde Solberg.

Since last autumn we joined KK Mile in Oslo, several of the sporty and hiking enthusiastic women at DeepOcean have discussed what sporty event we would participate in this year! We started to talk about Mountain Hiking and it soon was clear that many of us would like to join for a hiking in Hardanger not far from Haugesund and just approximately 2 hour drive towards east and Odda. Dates were set and private calendars adjusted to join in for the weekend 29th to 30th of August, to be able to take part of planned HM Queen Sonja’s Panoramic Hiking Trail (ref. fact box).

After finishing this beautiful panoramic hiking trail, on Saturday 29th of September, we stayed for one night at hotel in Kinsarvik, Hardanger and we enjoyed a great evening with dinner and conversations on how the mountain hiking went, and starting to plan the next sporty yearly event! All agreed that this was one of the most spectacular panoramic hiking experiences, even though the weather was not optimal during our mountain hiking, we would highly recommend this trail! We definitely experienced a wonderful hiking trail, with people in good mood and high on life of sharing time in such breath taking nature.

Berit Hagland, an experienced, sporty mountain hiking person, convinced both experienced and not that experienced hiking people to join in for the HM Queen Sonja’s Panoramic Hiking Trail!

PEOPLE

HM QUEEN SONJA’S PANORAMIC HIKING TRAIL This hiking trail is the only one of its kind to be honored with using HM Queen Sonja’s title. In the past 20 years, this trail around Hotel Ullensvang has become one of her favorites which she explores either by foot or on skis. The trail begins at Røte (“Velteplassen”), situated 6 km North of Hotel Ullensvang (between Lofthus and Kinsarvik), one is then urged to continue up the tractor road to the Hardangervidda situated 890 m.a.s.l. where the newly marked trail starts. The local Lion’s Club has marked the route by instructions of HM Queen Sonja. The

word Panoramic describes the view in all its glory, overlooking the South Fjord into Odda and the Folgefonna glacier and Eidfjord towards the Hardanger Bridge. The scenery continues to lead your eyes to the Hardangerfjord looking over into Kvanndal and Utne and the small arm of Kinsofjord into the village of Kinsarvik. The total time required is approximately 6 hours. The descending part of this trail to Lofthus / Hotel Ullensvang is through 616 steps made by local monks which began in the year 1210 and was finished in 1537, now known as The Monk Steps.
