COHO SWIM CLUB GENERAL INFORMATION

The COHO Swim Club is a developmental and competitive swimming club. COHO is a co-sponsored organization of the Park Districts of Deerfield and of Highland Park. Our mission is to promote the spirit of competition, the character of individuals, and the pride of team through swimming. In keeping with our philosophy of providing a well-rounded, quality developmental and competitive program for swimmers of all ages and abilities, COHO Swim Club offers professional technique instruction and training. COHO is divided into Developmental, Age Group, Senior, and Masters Programs. The number and length of practices depends on the group. Swimmers are assigned to groups by coaches and must follow the specific schedule for their group. This system allows our coaching staff to meet the individual needs of each swimmer. The minimum skill requirements for COHO are: Individuals, ages 5 and over must be able to swim 1 length of freestyle with rhythmic breathing (face in the water, turning the head to the side to breathe), 1 length of backstroke, demonstrate basic breaststroke, be able to go underwater to the bottom of the pool in the shallow end, and be comfortable swimming in the deep end.
