Adult Ceramics

BEGINNER

This class for beginners is a low stress, no experience needed introduction into the world of pottery! Students will learn the basic handbuilding techniques and even try their hands at throwing on the pottery wheel! This class is well-suited for those looking to get back into art, or those who are trying ceramics for the first time.

This class is designed for students who have taken Adult CeramicsBeginner or have prior ceramics experience. Students will deep dive into various techniques to take their work to the next level! With guided instruction, students will complete projects with more independence.

Solo List

Solo players may contact the Park District to be placed on a solo list. Players on this list are not guaranteed to be placed on a team. If enough solos are interested in a particular league, a team will be put together for season play. Otherwise, team captains will be notified of solos to fill any vacant roster spots.

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet

Join our professional instructors in our Intermediate/Advanced Ballet class for adult students. This class is designed for students with previous ballet experience.

Self Defense

This class puts your safety first as you learn practical self-defense. Based on traditional Japanese Jujitsu, this course will focus on how to defend yourself from the most common attacks. It will also include traditional sweeps, throws and groundwork. It is designed for both beginners and advanced students alike. Optional testing at the end of the session may lead to rank advancement. Class attire is loose fitting clothing. Gi’s may be purchased but not required.

ADVANCED-EXTENDED TIME

For students enrolled in Adult Ceramics-Advanced who would like more studio time to complete their projects, this extra hour at the end of class will allow students to tackle more complex and detailed projects. (All participants must also be enrolled in Adult Ceramics-Advanced)

PTC Members’ Club Lecture Series

The PTC Members’ Club Lecture Series is a weekly lecture program open to all members. All presentations are held on Tuesdays whether in-person or by ZOOM. A $3.00 fee is charged at the door. Dog Obedience

New this year, Dog Obedience class will be held outdoors at the Patty Turner Center in the parking lot adjacent to the building. Classes will be offered 2x’s per year; Spring and Summer. This dog obedience program provides you with techniques and strategies to train your dog with firmness, love and understanding. Get help with problems facing dog owners such as nipping, chewing, jumping, and housebreaking. All dogs must have health certificates, protective medication/shots, and must be free of communicable diseases. Aggressive dogs are not allowed. Owners must clean up after their pet. A well-trained animal makes owning a pet so much more enjoyable. Dogs must complete the beginner level class to attend intermediate.

Introductory Mah Jongg

This ancient Chinese game is a fast-paced, entertaining game similar to a card game, but using colorful tiles held in racks. Learn the basic rules and strategies as instructor Dale Solow leads you through this introductory course.

Beginning Canasta

Canasta is a fun and exciting card game taught by experienced instructor Terri Argentar. Learn how to play canasta in a learn-as-you play game, with written instructions. Learn the game and how it is played then enjoy supervised play including strategy and advanced signals.

Studio Painting and Drawing

Susie Mason brings her warm teaching style to this studio painting and drawing class. Students will be able to be creative and draw their own subject matter while receiving feedback and instruction from the instructor. Classes are kept small so that each student will receive individual attention. Students must provide their own materials.

Taught by experienced fitness instructor, Judy Samuelson: this class includes chair exercises, stretching, strengthening, and gentle impact aerobics. Students will increase their strength, flexibility, and mobility while improving their posture and balance.

Tone & Firm

Improve your muscle tone and gain added strength and flexibility through a circuit of area-specific exercises. Emphasis is on the arms, hips, stomach, and legs. No jumping or jogging.
