about me
In the year 2004, I entered Animation School in Communication University of China which is one of the top animation education colleges in China.My major was animation in this School, which emphasizes animation director direction and freehand sketching ability; four years college study not only trained my drawing skill, but also extended my field of vision; after my graduation in 2008, I entered Chinese Internet Company Sohu as a designer of game’s original painting. I entered 4399 Company, the biggest casual game company, as an art supervisor for further personal development in 2013, and have designed 5 to 6 successful operated cellphone games, whose style are totally different and concern about role design, scene design, UI design and action design; at the same time my managing ability is also improved and accepted. However, these are all business, my heart tells me that this is not myself, I want to design the works that are more art, experimental, and truly express my inner heart, which belong to myself better. I will try other drawing method and application of different drawing material more in the future, and wish to be an influential free illustrator or artist in the future through the study from here and my effort.

This project was a series of work that I did in my undergraduate study. That was a relatively important stage in my personal creation. Its name was A Lonely City. I was born and raised up in a small town, and as I just came to Beijing for study, I didn’t have any family or friends. The city was strange to me. I wanted to build a city that only belonged to me with brushes. Yes, it belonged to me exclusively and I could place all of me inside. House, scrawl, white cloud and small tree were the elements I often used at that time. Someone used to tell me that my paintings presented the beauty of loneliness and the relief of sadness.

There’s a small house under the peaceful sky. Countless high buildings and large mansions rose from the ground and kept squeezing the small house till it disappeared. That’s exactly a metaphor of the current condition in China---old objects can never change the destiny of being abandoned and fade away from the arena of history. After being discarded to the open country, the house felt that it was rejected and useless, and started to cry helplessly. Then, it wanted to jump into the river to end its life for good, but the river was too shallow to get drowned. Later after that, the house walked to the side and was brought home by a little girl that passed by. She re-decorated the house and gave it a completely new outlook. However, the girl abandoned her previous house. The house re-gained its value, but at the cost of others being abandoned. At night, while the girl fell asleep soundly, the house left her. On a small bridge, the two small houses met…… Who abandoned you?

This group of works stemmed from some model photos. I like it when someone was lowering his head with his eyes closed, he might be pondering over something or feeling distressed about something, perhaps it was just an unconscious stay of a temporary facial expression. However, I always assume that there must be a good story behind him.

This project originated from an accident: as a drip of ink was dropped to an unfinished sketch draft, they had collisions and sparkles, which were so harmonious though. One of them was simple and the other was exquisite, one was colorful and the other was seemingly pale. I like this visual impact and contrast. I think there will be a larger possibility that this will be continued in the near future.
