Local ministers keep MLK legacy alive

Minister Robert Muhammad

Bishop D. Kimathi Nelson

Pastor Juanita Rasmus

Rev. Leslie Smith

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of great faith whose calling into the ministry served him well in the fight for civil rights. Houston has its share of men and women inspired by Dr. King to keep his legacy alive through their ministries. They include three men and one woman who also have a dream – Robert Muhammad, D. Kimathi Nelson, Juanita Rasmus and Leslie Smith. In observance of the MLK Holiday, they reflect on Dr. King’s enduring legacy, how he impacted their lives and their desire to make a difference.
