university residence ribeira, porto, portugal 2008 author: patrĂcia de ferreira malhĂŁo

In the heart of the historical centre of Porto, used today as car parking, an unusual and amazing place near to the Douro River, was chosen to rehabilitate. A students residence, a gallery, a restaurant, a train station and a square, were the main buildings / spaces to project. The first problem to solve it was the war between what is nature, what is construction and what can be changed. Should mankind impose over nature, or can we find a solution and build a connection?

housing unit porto, portugal 2009 author: patrĂcia de ferreira malhĂŁo

Starting with an urbanism plan and finishing with a window detail, a work that took all the second year of faculty. After the urbanism solution to the derelict land, it was chosen one of the buildings to develope as a housing unit. This housing unit was my first touch with a real Architecture Project. What means that I had to calculate all the structure, water and electricity systems, and many other details.

five star hotel foz do douro, porto 2010 author: patrícia de ferreira malhão

The biggest project I had ever made, 14 000 m². A five star Hotel, with an auditorium, meeting rooms, SPA and interior swimming pool, it took a year of work, a multi-disciplinary project, that included three disciplines, Project, Construction and Structures. Once again, a project near to the water, where the circulation is made in the North side, and the rooms turn to the Northwest enjoying the amazing view of the river arriving into the sea.

palermo lolly station palermo, italy 2011 authors: patrĂcia de ferreira malhĂŁo; vito lanza; giuseppe cannata; irina dumitresco; paola randazzo

When I was in Erasmus at Palermo, I chose the Restore class, and an abandoned train station in Palermo was the chosen building to restore. Without any information we needed to start the with a watchful eye, taking photos, drawing and taking all the measurements to draw the sation facade and evaluate the degradation of it. After identifying the facade problems we needed to present the best solutions and techniques to solve it.

bisezhai village bisezhai, yunnan, china 2013 author: pristman architects team

Bisezhai that means green village, was the first village in China with a train station. Divided in two parts by the railway, the village have two different environments, the Chinese side and the French side. The project had the objective to rehabilitate and restore the all village, urban space and old buildings. Some new buildings were projected as well, to support the new tourism Chinese flow. Connecting both sides of the village, the masterplan uses pedestrian paths as a net. A game between different atmospheres and materials.

casa andam andam, juncal, portugal 2014 | 2015 authors: patrĂcia de ferreira malhĂŁo;

My first project for real! It’s a mix of happiness with anxiety.. so much responsability and so much to do. It was an old house that needed a full recover and an extension. Tried to keep the old walls and the history of the building, but giving it the cleaning lines and funcionality of modern architecture

viseu SRU praça viseu, portugal 2015 authors: patrícia de ferreira malhão, joana vaz

Just for fun we got into this competiton. Viseu it’s a city really warm in the summer and very cold during the winter, so as the competition asked, we needed to get a efemeral idea for the square. Something to give you shadows during the warm times, and something that could be removed in the winter, so you can have all the available seconds of sun. Something cheap, efemeral, and practical.
