The Journal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik is the oldest mathematics periodical in the world. Founded in 1826 by August Leopold Crelle, and edited by him until his death in 1855, it soon became widely known under the name of Crelle’s Journal. In the 197 years of its existence, Crelle’s Journal has developed into an outstanding scholarly periodical with one of the largest circulations among mathematics journals. It belongs to the very top mathematics periodicals, as listed in Clarivate’s Journal Citation Report.

DE GRUYTER STUDIES IN MATHEMATICS Editor-in-Chief: Guozhen Lu Editorial Board: Carsten Carstensen, Gavril Farkas, Nicola Fusco, Fritz Gesztesy, Zenghu Li, Karl-Hermann Neeb, Rene Schilling and Volkmar Welker The series is devoted to the publication of monographs and high-level textbooks in mathematics, mathematical methods and their applications. Apart from covering important areas of current interest, a major aim is to make topics of an interdisciplinary nature accessible to the non-specialist. The works in this series are addressed to advanced students and researchers in mathematics and theoretical physics. In addition, it can serve as a guide for lectures and seminars on a graduate level. The series De Gruyter Studies in Mathematics was founded in 1982 by the late Professor Heinz Bauer and Professor Peter Gabriel with the aim to establish a series of monographs and textbooks of high standard, written by scholars with an international reputation presenting current fields of research in pure and applied mathematics. While the editorial board of the Studies has changed with the years, the aspirations of the Studies are unchanged. In times of rapid growth of mathematical knowledge carefully written monographs and textbooks written by experts are needed more than ever, not least to pave the way for the next generation of mathematicians. In this sense the editorial board and the publisher of the Studies are devoted to continue the Studies as a service to the mathematical community. Recent and Forthcoming Titles

This monograph is a concise introduction to the stochastic calculus of variations for processes with jumps. The author provides many results on this topic in a self-contained way. The book also contains some applications of the stochastic calculus for processes with jumps to the control theory and mathematical finance. This third, entirely revised edition of the work was updated to reflected the latest developments in the theory. Malliavin calculus, Stochastic calculus, Stochastic functional differential equation, Stochastic partial differential equation

Yasushi Ishikawa, Ehime University, Japan.

Maximally subelliptic partial differential equations (PDE) are a far-reaching generalization of elliptic PDE. Elliptic PDE hold a special place: sharp results are known for general linear and fully nonlinear elliptic PDE. Over the past half-century, important results for elliptic PDE have been generalized to maximally subelliptic PDE. This text offers a presentation of these results and establishes the sharp regularity theory. subelliptic; hypoelliptic; degenerate elliptic; sub-Riemannian; fully nonlinear

This is the first treatment entirely dedicated to an analytic study of spectral flow for paths of selfadjoint Fredholm operators, possibly unbounded or understood in a semi finite sense. The importance of spectral flow for homotopy and index theory are discussed in detail. Applications concern eta-invariants, the Bott-Maslov and Conley-Zehnder indices, Sturm-Liouville oscillation theory, the spectral localizer and bifurcation theory. Self-adjoint Fredholm operators; topologies thereon; Index theory of Fredholm pairs; BottMaslov and Conley-Zehnder indices; Oscillation theory Jacobi operators; scattering theory; Variational bifurcation theory

The theory of almost periodic functions is a very active field of research for scholars. This research monograph analyzes various classes of multi-dimensional almost periodic type functions with values in complex Banach spaces. We provide many applications of our theoretical results to the abstract Volterra integro-differential inclusions in Banach spaces. Almost periodic functions; almost automorphic functions; metrically almost periodic functions; abstract volterra integro-differential inclusions; abstract impulsive Volterra integro-differential inclusions.

Marko Kostić, University of Novi Sad, Serbia.

Polynomials are useful tools, are simply defined, easy to calculate, and integrate and can be pieced together to form spline functions. Classes of polynomials are used in many fields of science. There is a trove of material available on existing polynomials, specific classes and applications, but it is not presented coherently. This volume solves this issue by introducing a systematic study of sequences of polynomials and related applications. Polynomial sequences, Numerical Analysis, Infinitesimal calculus, Real-valued function

This book aims to be a comprehensive treatise on the interactions between Coding Theory and Commutative Algebra. With the help of a multitude of examples, it expands and systematizes the known and versatile commutative algebraic framework used, since the early 90’s, to study linear codes. The book provides the necessary background for the reader to advance with similar research on coding theory topics from commutative algebraic perspectives. Minimum distance; height of an ideal; dual linear forms; fat points; evaluation code; socle degree

This book provides a self-contained account of continuous-parameter time series, starting with second-order models, the analysis of which is based heavily on Hilbert space, integration with respect to orthogonal increment processes and Fourier transforms. Coverage extends beyond finite variance models by incorporating Levy-driven models, which allow for infinite variance and skewed sample routes, as well as an examination of the sample paths. Although traditionally focused on submanifolds of real or complex spaces, in the last decades submanifold geometry has been extended to several other homogeneous spaces, such as product spaces, the complex quadric, and some nearly Kähler spaces. This book introduces these new spaces in detail and shows how submanifolds therein can be studied, in particular in the case of ambient spaces which admit (almost) product and (almost) complex structures. The spectral analysis of the complex Laplacian and the compactness of the d-bar-Neumann operator are the primary topics of the section. The revised 2 edition explores the Segal Bargmann Space (Fock space) connection to quantum mechanics, updates to Schrödinger operators with magnetic fields and new results in the field of compactness. This book presents a wide-ranging approach to operator-valued measures and integrals of both vector-valued and set-valued functions. It covers convergence theorems and an integral representation for linear operators on spaces of continuous vector-valued functions on a locally compact space. This book is intended to study a weak notion of mean curvature flow, using the minimizing movements method, obtained approximating the evolution with a sequence of discrete minimum problems associated to the perimeter perturbed by a non-symmetric bulk term. Properties such as comparison and consistency with classical solutions are presented. Variants and generalizations as well as the comparison with other notions of weak solutions are covered.

Analysis and Probability on graphs is an introduction to random graphs, Markov chains on digraphs, entropy of Markov Chains, and discrete Lyapunov exponents and Hausdorff dimension, requiring only minimal background in probability, mathematical analysis, and graphs. This textbook includes constructive discussions about the motivation of basic concepts, and many worked-out problems in each chapter, making it ideal for classroom use or self-study.

This book is ideal as an introduction to algebraic topology and applied algebraic topology featuring a streamlined approach including coverage of basic categorical notions, simplicial, cellular, and singular homology, persistent homology, cohomology groups, cup products, Poincare Duality, homotopy theory, and spectral sequences. The focus is on examples and computations, and there are many end of chapter exercises and extensive student projects

Topology as treated here casts the problems in general terms (involving sets and functions, or categories and functors), the problems become algebraic or combinatorial in nature, allowing for explicit computation. Coverage includes nerves of covers or posets, categories and functors, and chain complexes. This exposure gives students experience with the fundamental tools used in applied topology, piquing their interest, and honing their skills.

Hausdorff dimension; Lyapunov exponents; Markov chains; random graph; random walk; undirected graph

Algebraic topology; continuous maps and homotopy; homology; cohomology and duality; homotopy and spectral sequences

Topology; posets and small categories; homotopy equivalence; spheres
