Year 7 2008

It’s an interesting exercise when one reflects on the year that passes by so quickly. Thinking about the boys who attended the orientation day the previous year — the looks of apprehension, the awkwardness in their greetings and social interactions — how far they have come in twelve months! Meeting our new families during Term 1 at the end of each Homeroom camp is a great pleasure. Listening to parents talking about their son’s talents and achievements, as well as their expectations for the year, is always a great joy. Observing the boys in the yard during playtime and in their classes, I appreciate the spirit of youth and the great potential these boys offer our world. As the boys make new friends and build their social networks, I can see the vision of our Founder at work. The year has once again provided many opportunities for our Year 7 group. The Swimming Carnival, rally days, band, orchestra, athletics, cross country, Lasallian Speaking Challenge, chess are just a few of the activities our boys have been involved in this year. The Year 7 class of 2008 are fine young men, and I am sure they will carry on the values and traditions of De La Salle College in future years.
