Bribery! Find something you know your model is going to love and bribe them to sit still or give you a fantastic pose! Of course this only applies to child models. However don't under estimate some of the older ones. You might need to bribe them as well or show them the nearest exit. Lighting is VERY important! Make sure you have great lighting all around. You can get a very nice set of lights, umbrellas, backdrops all for about $100.00 or less on eBay if you shop around. Another way to get lights is to go to your local store and buy those big aluminum flood lights with the clasp. They can work just as well as the pro photography lights. You can also go outdoors or just open those windows for a natural light effect. Reflectors and umbrellas are a great way to get the light you want. As for back drops you can use a good sheet! However when using a sheet you must make sure to steam or iron it out before you hang it up. A wrinkled backdrop looks very unprofessional. When using props it does not have to get expensive. You can shop Goodwill, or yard sales or even use things around your house. Creativity can be made and not bought. Go crazy, but don't add too much because, you may drown out your model with too much going on around him/her.

First off you can go online and apply at De Lauraine Magazine or De lauraine Shop Pageant Wear Etc. Just go to your face book and find either of these. Then send a message titled "I'd like my child to be in your magazine" You can also look around online and submit your child's photo. You just have to make sure that they are not trying to scam you. Never give any SSN or any personal information, or photos. Some magazines online will charge you a modeling fee, but there are a few that will not charge a dime. Angels in Glitter Magazine is another good magazine to try out. What we look for in our models: 1. Great clear photos 2. Personality 3. Attentive and on time with submissions 4. Quick replies 5. A very easy person to work with 6. The "It" factor 7. Creativity

We thank these three women for sharing their heart breaking stories and giving hope to many who have suffered the same.

KATIE KARAM'S STORY
Everyone who has a child has a miracle on their hands. You have this gift given to you. Some people just need to try a little harder for their miracle. My journey wasn't so easy. Life was easy at first, marrying my high school sweetheart at only 18...only a month after graduating. We were in love, what can I say? We wanted a child right away, people didn't agree with all of our decisions, but we were young, in love and maybe a little bit crazy. So a couple months went by without any periods. Yet 2 months after we got married, I never missed my periods. Discouraged, but still hopeful. Family means everything to me and my sister in laws were only just starting middle school. So we liked to rough house and pick on each other a lot. Well, as I was wrestling with my youngest sister-in-law, she accidentally punched me in the stomach. Completely took my breath away and felt very weird. I had to run to the bathroom immediately. What happened in there was too graphic to explain and too hurtful to try to explain. That's when the crazy bleeding started. I went to doctor after doctor and emergency room after emergency room. For some reason no one would help me and they seemed to not even care. I just kept bleeding. For 6 1/2 years I constantly bled after this one miscarriage. I couldn't walk across the living room without being dizzy and out of breath. I almost died trying to hike with my family. I did my best to hide it from everyone. I gained weight and blamed everything on my weight.
I knew the truth and so did my husband. We were not happy and it was getting to the breaking point. I was paler, sicker, and severely anemic. One day while we were over my mother-in-law's house having dinner as a family, my husband announced that he went to go see a recruiter and that he was joining the military. I was shocked and so was everyone else. Come to find out, he already discussed this with a friend he worked with that was previous military and the only thing he had to do was sign the papers. he literally already joined without telling me. After the whole process and right before he left for basic training I asked him why didn't he tell me and why was he doing this? He said because, he didn't want me to stop him and when he joined the military I would get free healthcare with the best doctors in the country. He wanted to save my life. Wow!
After two years in the military my problem still wasn't figured out by doctors. One doctor prescribed me birth control to try and control and regulate this bleeding. Two weeks after I started taking it, I got violently sick and weak. Went to the ER after 4 days and they took a cat scan. Doctors rushed in and told me I had a brain clot and it was hemorrhaging into my brain. I thought I was going to die. This was my death sentence. I never got my baby, what am I going to do? I was 2 states away from anybody in our family at a military base. It was just my husband and I working through this together. The doctors wanted to life flight me to the right hospital, but there was no helicopters available. I took the ambulance while falling in and out from complete shock. When I woke up in my new room, I heard nurses talking about how I might not make it. I instantly passed out again.

After a week in the hospital I made a full recovery and was on blood thinners. Bleeding continued. I didn't think it was ever going to end. Then finally one doctor in the clinic heard my story and couldn't believe it. He examined me and gave me tests. He told me if I didn't come in when I did he doesn't know how long I would have been alive and he couldn't believe I was still kicking. He referred me to an infertility specialist. When we went in for the consultation, he asked us if we wanted kids. We of course said yes, but we wanted me to be fixed. That's why the doctor referred us to him. He stopped us and said, "No. Do you want kids?" We looked at each other and said "Yes we do!" So he said, "Okay" and that's when the 2 days a week appointments started. I had surgery to fix my problem. Then he diagnosed me with PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) and I had to get surgery for that as well. After over a year at this doctor, we started on fertility pills, two rounds of the pills with no success on pregnancy. We were devastated. Then our next option was injections and I was not thrilled. After weeks of injections; on December 17th I got the call from the clinic telling me I WAS PREGNANT! I couldn't believe it! I really thought my life was supposed to be my husband and me, like my dream was never supposed to happen! The birth was an emergency c-section and a very traumatic experience for me, but I now have my baby girl! She is now 2 years old and the light of my life. She is my EVERYTHING! I couldn't have done it without my husband who joined the military where I met that doctor, who referred me to that specialist, who gave me my world!
We were never supposed to get pregnant naturally. August 2014 I got pregnant for the third time. We were over the moon excited and announced at 4 weeks! That is early, but none of us could hold it in! We went on a trip to California and I started bleeding. I about freaked out. It got painful and I could barely walk. We drove all the way from California cast to Las Vegas from 9 PM to 4:30 AM just so we could be at our military base hospital for a possible miscarriage. I got tested and examined and it was confirmed I had my second miscarriage. I couldn't stop crying. Just when I thought maybe, I could actually be normal. Then I looked at my growing baby girl and realized I have a life and she is it! I picked myself back up and made an appointment with women's health at the base hospital. We now have a plan to conceive by #2 (reality #4) and it's all thanks to my husband and the top notch doctors the military provides. I wanted to share my story to possibly give others hope. you got this! Have faith in yourself! 16
BRANDY BREEDEN KNOTT’S STORY I had my tubes tied after having my last son. I remarried and after four years we decided we wanted more children. I really wanted a little girl. I had my tubes tied for 11 years so we were really worried it wouldn't be possible, but I did lots and lots of research and found a fabulous place called Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, in Chapel Hill North Carolina. I had my surgery December 31st and found out that on February 2nd I was pregnant. I thank God everyday for my three beautiful girls!

SARAH BURKE’S STORY I have incompetence cervix. We lost 3 babies. The first one at 9 weeks, then we got pregnant again in Dec. 07, we were having a boy. In April 08 my cervix began to open and we lost our little boy Alex on May 7, 2008. He was with us for a few hours before passing. We then got pregnant again in Dec. 09. I had a Cerclage procedure at 14 weeks, but I got an infection and lost our second boy at 16 weeks on March 4, 2010. When I found out I was pregnant with Robbie in Oct. of 2011, I was so scared. I cried for weeks. When I was 14 weeks I underwent surgery. It was 2 weeks before Christmas that I had a tac placed in. They held Robbie in their hand while doing the surgery. It was amazing!

At 16 weeks I began P17 shots until I was 34 weeks and had to have a C section at 36 weeks. I would do it over in a heart beat! We thought we would never be able to carry a child to term. Thank you medical field for making him a reality and not a dream! He has brought so much happiness to me and his daddy. When I think that all hope is lost and things can't get any worse I look at him and realize that God is good and won't give me more than I can handle. Our life is so much brighter and better now that he is in it!

"Why
do I enter my child in online pageants and they never win? Is my child not cute, too fat, unpopular? Is it me? Do they not like me?" Entering your child in a pageant online to win a crown can be frustrating. Though it is true, that a lot of online pageants have their clicks and are not fair, but there are some good ones online as well. It is true that they will sometimes choose a thinner child over a heavier child, but that is not always the case. If your precious baby is on the chubby side, but undeniably adorable and has good photos. Then they will win! A lot of parents or guardians will turn in a photo that they think is fabulous, but to a judge the photo is anything but fabulous. Lighting is very important. Your photo can't be too dark, too light, to bright, or too fuzzy. It has to be well balanced lighting with a good clear shot. The color has to be eye catching and your model has to show personality in the photo. Sometimes just being cute will not get you the crown. The photo almost has to tell a story. Another thing to do is to put your model's best foot forward. If she/he has beautiful eyes then make sure the photo is showing them off. If it's their hair that's great then show that off. Use what they have and feature it! Now if you child has something that is not too flattering don't feature that so much. For example, not all babies have grown into their ears yet. If that's the case don't put a tight pony tail drawing attention to the ears.

Don't get me wrong, all babies are beautiful, but if you want your child to win that crown you really have to help your child stand out from the other beautiful children in the best way you can. There are many photography groups online who will answer questions or give you opinions. Just take what they say and use it in a positive way and don't let yourself be easily offended. Though it is true that people's opinions do suck sometimes, they can also be very helpful if you take it and use it in a positive way. Even if they don't tell you what you want to hear. Maybe it's the point of view that you're not seeing yourself. Love can be blind and when you love what you do, who wants to be told it's not good enough? I'll tell you who, people who want to get better at what they do. Cheers and How Ur doin!
