STAFF REVIEW

Another summer, another chance to complete our Summer Reading Club challenge! Staff felt the nostalgia as we planned for this year’s theme of Camp DCDL.

We channeled our own summer camp experiences to create programs that encourage kids to love reading and stay curious. Each branch is decked out with summer camp decorations. It feels fitting, because reading offers us an adventurous escape from our day-to-day lives; just like camp.

The Library is an institution for every stage of life. Summer Reading Club is no exception. The littlest library-goers and teens can earn prizes through tracking the amount of time they read over the summer. Grown-ups get in on the fun by earning an entry for a prize every time they read four books.

Summer isn’t just an escape, we use it to get ready for the next year of learning. That’s truly the goal behind Summer Reading Club, and you’ll even find a Kindergarten Readiness Checklist in the following pages if that’s the stage of life you’re in. We’ll see you at the Library soon!
