Letter from our Director of Education
With this brochure we finish our 50th Anniversary Celebration and look ahead to the next 50 years. Delaware Nature Society is poised with a refreshed mission and clear strategic direction. We understand the importance of providing opportunities for you to refresh, discover, play, steward, learn, research, and connect to nature. Thank you for responding to our survey. We heard you ask for programs by site, age and date. I invite you to join us this fall in one of the many opportunities ahead. You can drop in at our sites during the week and on weekends for naturalist led programs or watch your email for spontaneous programs that just pop up and finally there are a variety of programs in this brochure. Please stay up to date on the news through our Facebook, blog, website, and eNewsletters.
As a founding member of the Children in Nature Coalition in Delaware we believe that an environmentally literate citizenry is vital to our future. Whether you are a child or an adult, take time this fall to complete one or more activities from the below Delaware Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights. Join us as we band a bird, cook a meal with freshly picked organically grown vegetables, travel back in time and discover how water power worked, or paddle on the Christina River. Finally, if you have any ideas for our team please feel free to reach out and share. Connecting children, adults and families with nature matters. Cheers,
Helen Fischel Director of Education and Organizational Development
Delaware Children’s
Outdoor Bill of Rights
Outdoor activity can nourish children’s physical, social, and emotional development, while connecting them to resources available in their backyards, neighborhoods, cities, and regions.
