To comply with infection control measures and get patients back on the floor as quickly as possible, LeChase proposed a single-phase approach where staff and patients would be relocated to another floor in the hospital during construction, resulting in a reduced schedule of eight months from the original 15-month multi-phased renovation plan. To accomplish this, the company conducted an extensive and strategic two-week planning, lo- gistics, coordination and collaboration session between all stakeholders. LeChase also implemented overtime as warranted on specific tasks to accelerate the schedule and complete the project in only seven months.

Roswell Park reports that its patient population has grown 46 percent over the last decade.

“The expansion was part of our ongoing work to ensure access to outstanding and comprehensive cancer care for our community,” said Meredith Gedraitis, executive director of hospital operations at Roswell Park. “The renovations support patient-centric care for our patients receiving highly complex treatments that require heightened monitoring and follow-up. The expansion also allows for improved flexibility in patient placement, allowing our team to provide optimal care that’s sensitive to a patient’s disease type and required level of care.”

The subcontractors that worked on the project were 34 Group (general contracting), MLP and Danforth (plumbing and HVAC), Davis Fire Protection (sprinkler), IPL Electric (electrical), Heritage (flooring) and BGI (millwork). u
