Eddystone to raise property taxes for first time in decade By Barbara Ormsby For Digital First Media

For the first time in 10 years, real estate taxes will be going up in the borough with the millage rate rising from 5.75 mills to 7 mills. The increase means a $60 a year increase in borough taxes in 2017 for a house assessed at $50,000. The 2017 budget shows expenditures of $3,649,821. At council’s preliminary budget presentation in December there was a deficit of $211,179 going into 2017. Council discussed adding a fee for trash removal as a way to raise revenue, with Treasurer Joseph Possenti noting that the borough is most likely the only municipality in Delaware County that does not have a fee for trash removal which is handled by borough employees. “We’re still without a trash
