Festival Of The Arts Veterans Day Events Lynn Univ. to Build Boca Pre-Festival From Morning To Night Christine E. Lynn Concert Set Nov. 13 University Center

BOCA RATON, FL – The Festival of the Arts BOCA will host a special pre-festival concert featuring award-winning jazz vocalist Zoë Fromer with the Henry Mancini Institute Jazz Quintet, followed by a reception to announce the 10th Anniversary line-up on Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center, 201 Plaza Real in Boca Raton. Tickets are $20 per person and are available at www. festivalboca.com or 866-571-2787 The performance by the all-star group of musicians led by vocalist Zoë Fromer will feature a wide range of music from jazz standards such as Autumn Leaves and Embraceable You to contemporary hits including Just The Two Of Us and A House Is Not A Home. “We are planning an extraordinary line-up to celebrate the Festival’s 10th installment,” said Charlie Siemon, co-founder and co-producer. “We have much to be proud of throughout our decade of bringing the best and brightest in dance, classical music, performing arts, and literature to Boca Raton.” Zoë Fromer started her jazz career singing for the big band at nationally–acclaimed Atlantic Community High School. BOCA RATON, FL – Lynn University announced at its annual State of the University address recently that it will build the Christine E. Lynn University Center, a project that begins the final phase of the school’s Campus Master Plan. The new building is made possible by a $15 million gift, the largest in university history, from Board of Trustees Chair Christine E. Lynn. Mrs. Lynn’s commitment is a challenge grant that establishes the foundation for others to participate in this momentous project. “The Christine E. Lynn University Center will stand at the heart of our campus and enhance the experience of students, employees and every person who visits,” says Lynn President Kevin M. Ross. “We are grateful for Mrs. Lynn’s unparalleled generosity and the role she continues to play in our university’s future.” The university center’s design is the culmination of years of preparation, beginning with Continued on page 4

BOCA RATON, FL – In recognition of Veterans Day and in remembrance of all military personnel in service to the United States, the City of Boca Raton will host a Veterans Day Observance “Honoring All Who Served” on Wednesday, November 11 with two special events FREE and open to the public. A special tribute is planned at 9 a.m. at the Boca Raton Cemetery, 449 SW 4th Avenue, with the Boca Raton High School NJROTC, Boca Raton Community High School Band, Boca Raton Elks Lodge #2166, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Estahakee Chapter NSDAR, American Legion Post #277, American Legion Auxiliary Post #277. Mayor Susan Haynie will share a presentation of remembrances and welcome a special appearance by the Fort Lauderdale Highlanders. A special concert, “Tribute to Veterans,” will be presented by the Florida Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Kyle Prescott at 7 p.m. at the Mizner Park Amphitheater, 590 Plaza Real, in Downtown Boca. The evening that included a reception, dinner and dancing, complete with a red carpet arrival and on-thespot interviews, was a sell-out, drawing more than 400 local civic, business, tourism, community and philanthropic stakeholders and visionaries – past and present. The special black-tie event raised start-up money to launch the Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton’s new grant program that will fund health and wellness needs of Boca Raton nonprofits. Set amid city-themed environs, with the ballroom divided into Camino Real and Yamato Road sections, historical décor was provided by the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum. The program opened with a presentation of colors by Boca Raton Fire Rescue and Police Honor Guards and the Boca Raton Fire Rescue Pipes and Drums Corps. The national anthem was sung by Kendra Erika. A formal mayor’s processional was also held. To start the night “on the right foot,” current Boca Raton Mayor Susan Haynie surprised guests with a special dance performance. She and Scott Lappin of Dance for Life Studio presented a Broadway-style performance to Stephen Sondheim’s “Boca Raton” (music and lyrics) from the stage play Road Show that follows the Continued on page 7
