Funding will support environmental projects and public safety

The Burns Bog Conservation Society, Earthwise Society and Delta Marine Rescue Society have all received various funding grants from the provincial government Last week, the province announced more than $12 million in new funding for public safety and environment programs that will support 281 non-profit organizations in the

Province

The Burns Bog Conservation Society is receiving $62,000, the Earthwise Society is receiving $77,000 and the Delta Marine Rescue Society is receiving $75,000 Delta North NDP MLA Ravi Kahlon said these local organizations will be able to protect ecosystems and keep people safe thanks to more than $200,000 in funding from the Community Gaming Grants program for environmental and public safety initiatives.

“Protecting our local wetlands helps to mitigate the impacts of flooding, drought and climate change for our community,” said Kahlon in a news release.

“Wetlands also give us natural places to play, learn, and explore. Supporting organizations like the Burns Bog Conservation Society helps ensure our wetlands will be here for generations to come ”

This is an opportunity for the public to provide input on the 2023/2024 Delta School District draft budget. Budget recommendations will be released on Thursday, April 13, 2023 and will be posted to the school district website at www deltasd bc ca

The public will be able to provide feedback on the draft budget in the following ways:

• Speak at the Special Public Board Meeting on Tuesday, April 18

• Complete a short survey that will be available on the district website once the draft budget recommendations have been released
