It is needed to live and breathe, yet when the clock is ticking it is the largest adversary to moving forward. For years Vision Engineers have understood this paradox and worked tirelessly to provide components that will move effortlessly through the air and conserve energy in the process. This ethos has been expanded once again in regards to our new Vision wheel line. We are proud to offer a full range of premium aero profiles for any situation or condition the athlete might encounter. Not only are these profiles aerodynamically superior but they are also refined to be stable in variable to high wind conditions to keep the athlete moving in a straight line.
Wheel development-CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
In the past 3 years Vision engineers have placed rim profile development as a top priority to bring a complete wheel line to the market. Over 350 profiles have been simulated in CFD, which equates to over 2500 + simulations and 1,150+ hours of computing time. 10 deg YAW

WIND TUNNEL-VALIDATION OF DESIGN: For years Vision has been a leader in aero bicycle components. To stay on top, Vision engineers spend many days a year validating internal designs against the competition at some of the top wind tunnels in the U.S. Testing at the A2 (Charlotte N.C) and LSWT SD (San Diego, CA) wind tunnels, Vision engineers follow through the development process and validate the components refined in CFD. This validation is not only to put a real value to the component, but more importantly, the data is taken back and correlated with the CFD . In the end, this correlation of real and virtual data reduces the development cycle for aero designs allowing the development process to move quickly and efficiently before bringing prototypes to the tunnel.
CFD-Wind tunnel validation: Cranksets To stay on top, Vision engineers spend many days a year validating internal designs against the competition at some of the top wind tunnels in the U.S. Testing at the A2 and LSWT wind tunnels, Vision engineers follow through the development process and validate the components refined in CFD. YAW-Wheel Simulations and reason behind a wider range of testing: YAW= crosswind vector angle that relates to the relative wind velocity of the object in motion. Until recently, the bike industry has been developing aero components based on research that was done over 20 years ago. Not being content with the status quo, Vision engineers took a practical approach at researching current weather data to understand what is a “real world condition� and develop products to thrive within it . Due to the research, all Vision projects simulated (CFD) and validated in the wind tunnel are now developed to be optimal in variable to high wind conditions which requires the performance to adapt through a full range (0-30 deg) of YAW. This is a stark comparison to those that are relying on old research and still developing product within shallower YAW angles (0-15deg).
COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (CFD); TFA PROJECT. Analyzing the aero bar as a complete system is important, but to understand why one aero bar is faster than another, Vision engineers run isolated comparisons through CFD and correlate the change with the overall performance of the bar as the design moves forward. The TFA 3:1 UCI legal aerobar is a great example of this method. Not only is the TFA aero bar UCI legal, but due to the isolated simulations and minimizing unneeded drag, it is also the fastest aero bar Vision has made to date.
