Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent says: In an inspiring and interactive environment, students will together use their creativity, imagination and practical skills to design and innovate products that will solve real and relevant problems.

Part of the Creative Technologies faculty, the department had three distinct teaching and preparation spaces and needed to ensure they could deliver multiple activities in the dedicated D&T rooms, including CAD/CAM, Textiles, Electronics, Design and Fabrication. The department has been designed using Akira™ and incorporating mobile workstations with the student experience in mind. The new space provides them with the best possible opportunities to design and prototype. Introducing the Schred recycling system

Help to deliver on long term sustainability goals and invest in equipment to support recycling!

The CR Clarke plastic recycling system allows you to recycle used plastic into re-usable sheets of material suitable for thermoforming. Materials that can be recycled include PP, HIPS, ABS and LDPE (milk bottles).

The system consists of a granulator which continually shreds the fed material into very small pellets and a sheet press which uses heat and pressure to turn the pellets into a plastic sheet. Check out the full range for more detail online...

The R25 is an industrial-quality plastic granulator. Suitable materials for recycling include PP, HIPS, ABS, and LDPE.

The R30 Sheet Press converts granulated thermoplastic material into a usable form using heat and pressure. As standard, the formed article is a flat plastic sheet, which can typically be used thermoforming forming, laser cutting, line bending etc.

The Government has a target of eliminating avoidable plastic waste by end of 2042.

In 2022/23, the household recycling rate decreased to 43.3%, down by 0.8 percentage points from the previous year.

An estimated 73% of the plastic bottles produced in 2020/21 were collected for recycling.
