HOSPITALITY
This year’s, Hospitality In The Park was held at none other than, Finsbury Park. The day was nothing short of pure energy, as you would expect from a drum and bass crowd. The second round of the drum and bass celebration was full of over 10,000 people ready to party and have nothing but a great time. The scene had, fans, singers, live acts and not to mention the DJs and food. After demand from the punters last year to improve the sound the system, we, this year we could feel the music pumping through our veins. The atmosphere of the whole area was simply enjoyable. The crowd just seemed happy to be having a great time squeezing out the last bit of summer and festival season out their system before winter. There were plenty of other activities to part take in at Hospitality, eat, drink, even have a mini silent headphone disco because, why not! An opportunity for you to showcase your talent was available at the Cuckoo’s Nest where unsigned artists were able to battle out their music and

share with fellow festival party goers. The fashion was in true festival style; shorts, messy buns, kimonos, bright colours and of course, GLITTER, GLITTER and more GLITTER! The hospitality tent itself was sheer energy. The lights were spectacular and the base could literally be felt in your chest. Tents also had performances from The London Elektricity Big Band, Fred V & Grafix and Roni Size. Each and every DJ provided great music full of bass to dance to and let everyone purely rock out. This year left us feeling so vibrant and we’re absolutely buzzing to see what 2018 brings us.

The Commandments of setting up a brand by Ballonet Take your time before setting up
Get your idea out there, talk to friends and family and get feedback. Take your time to do research before implementing your idea. Analyse competition, monitor and track other brands that you like. Look at what they are doing and how they are doing it. Gather your inspiration first. Do your research and then just start!
2. Branding first
Your products/services, visual concept, website, packaging, marketing channels, all of which will be a reflection of your brand and they should be in line and consistent with one another. Each aspect supports the next and helps develop a cohesive brand image over time. Invest your time and resources to get your brand image right from the very beginning. This will ensure a strong start to your journey.
3. Enjoy what you do
You know how smiling and laughing are contagious and when someone smiles or laughs, you start smiling or laughing as well. The same principle applies to brands too. When you enjoy what you do, you can be sure your feel-good mood will reflect on your overall brand image. Your excitement, passion and positivity will find ways to reach your audience. Keep up the good spirits and always find a way to have fun with your work.
4- Get your story out there
Why are you setting up your brand? What is your personal motivation? Share the story behind your decision to set up your brand. Be sincere and show what has driven you. Your personal mark will make all the difference and will enable your customers to understand the brand and to connect on a more personal level.
5. Think big t’s free and doesn’t cost a dime. Think and dream big. Do not limit yourself with the current setup you have. Imagine how you can improve your brand in the long term, how you can scale and what kind of exciting new products, services and concepts you can add. Avoid stagnation and never stop learning. And when the opportunity arises to move forward, just go for it and don’t hold back.
6. Put yourself in your customers’ shoes This is a key rule to live by. Just imagine how your experience would be with your brand, if you were the customer. Every time you deal with a customer, be it someone just asking questions about your products or a corporate buyer planning big purchases, always be kind and treat others as you would have them treat you. Everything you do and say, represents your brand. Give your best to make each and every customer feel valued and respected.
7. Network. Network. Network. One more time: Network! When you have questions, when you need to get a job done or when you need advice, look for help in your network. Not only will it be time-saving, but you will also have a more reliable support system when moving forward with your brand. And you never know, each person you meet, each time you ask for help or help others, there might be a new idea or a new collaboration opportunity waiting just around the corner.

8- Cash flow is king Please always keep in mind: cash flow is REALLY the king. Determining your priorities, realistically calculating in’s and out’s, projecting and planning for worst case scenarios is very important in managing your cash and thus staying afloat. Absolutely avoid any initial costs that will not help generate sales. Bootstrap as much as you can. Cash shortage can become very nerve-wracking and inhibiting. Imagine having grand plans about your brand and not being able to implement them. Not a very happy place to be.
9. Get ready to spend money for services and know-how You will get to learn a lot of different things while setting up your brand. Bootstrapping in the beginning is key to avoid unnecessary costs yet there are certain services and knowhow that you better pay for. Invest in aspects of your business that you cannot handle by yourself and when investing get the best you can afford. Well-informed accountants, enthusiastic team members and a reliable infrastructure will save you money and avoid unexpected problems and delays in the long term.
10. Keep yourself happy and healthy When you start your brand from scratch, it will be a very demanding time of your life. You will need to find ways to nurture your creativity and soul whilst managing all the boring and overwhelming aspects of your business. Always keep in mind - YOU are the core of your brand. Just stop, relax and make quality time for yourself even in the midst of crises. If you keep yourself happy and healthy, your business will thrive with you. Ballonet Socks will be at the Demur Pop Up Party on Friday 20th October 2017. You can RSVP to attend at www.demur.co

FLUX PRESENTS ‘This
Is Who I Am’ The Naked Artist
- Suzie Pindar, Solo Exhibition
13th-15th October 2017, Safehouse 1, 139 Copeland Road, Peckham, London, SE15 3SN FLUX Exhibition produces large scale art events that have generated a huge following. They are now delighted to announce an exciting new venture FLUX PRESENTS which will showcase the work of individual or small groups of artists at interesting locations across the UK. The first FLUX PRESENTS will showcase the edgy work of Suzie Pindar Aka The Naked Artist at a derelict house in South London. Pindar is an artist that constantly evaluates the world and the wide range of emotions that are evoked from daily life. Pindar Feels the need to make sense of everything and capture her observations in a way that she can express and later process.
and moments, happiness, sadness and selfreflection. First seizing the point in time with words so that the immediacy and her feelings are captured. Pindar later creates imagery that perfectly evokes her thoughts surrounding her experience. Today Pindar’s art is much more explorative in the physical sense, she now uses her body much more to express thoughts rather than just using paper, this combination ensures maximum impact and adds a strength and boldness to her work.
Pindar works on themes that explore memories
Pindar produces Art that does indeed reveal ‘the naked’ truth. Embracing experiences whether good or bad and documenting them in her bold self-expressive way. This is work that is honest, that is bursting with feelings and memories, making the ordinary interesting.

Redefining
MissDefiant,
‘Girl Power’
Having released ten singles in the last two years, London pop duo fashionistas’ MissDefiant released their highly anticipated debut album just last month, complete with 26 tracks and an album launch party at Thousand Island. To celebrate the release of their record, Jordan and Emily otherwise known as MissDefiant, teamed up with Stylist Lewis Robert Cameron, Photographer Kathryn Younger & Makeup Artist Louise Quirit to create a well-fitting themed photoshoot, that embodies what the girls are all about, ‘Girl Power’. When and where did you guys meet and how did you know you were going to work well together? We went to the same Performing Arts School called Millennium Performing Arts. We remet a few years later on a TV Series called ‘Cockroaches’ and during our breaks, we sat and discussed music and the music industry. We both wanted to write music and be in a "girl band", so we decided to have a jam and I guess the rest is history! What makes you guys Defiant? We would say our "go get it" attitude to the world and the music industry! We are not scared to express ourselves through our music and also our fashion sense, we feel makes us both defiant and strong-minded women. We also want to inspire young women to follow their dreams and support other womenn too. Some people feel the UK music scene is lacking compared to America. What do you think our music scene is missing? It's hard not to be biased on this!! But we feel the London music scene is missing a new big pop act that doesn't just write and sing about love and relationships, but seeks to address current events instead such politics, drugs, cyber living. There aren't many duos in the industry, so it would be good to have more openings for duos as well as solo acts and bands. What can we expect from your debut album? Sky high energy and lyrics inspired by our Demur Magazine
An Ode To Fashion and Culture
experiences! Contemporary cyber living is a running theme throughout the album, we talk about relationships, drugs, politics and parties in the album. The A side has an electro pop sound, while the B side comprises a contrast of chilled out acoustic versions and fist pumping club remixes. Which songs from the album do you think people will have on repeat. Um, we would say YCSWU and Social Media! What is the one song that you wish you could have made? Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do' as it's such a tune!! If you each could be a fashion item, what item would you be and why? Project Mysh's light up jackets!! The fact they light up is AMAZING and who doesn't want to light up a room! Check out her Instagram @ projectmysh
MissDefiant’s self-titled debut album is out now and available on Spotify. MissDefiant will also be performing at our Demur Pop Up Party on Friday 20th October 2017. You can RSVP to attend at www.demur.co www.demur.co
