That’s where the similarity ends though as Allan was never Too Shy when trying to get a job here, in fact he hassled the MD Colin Griffin on many occasions and it seems his longevity is far greater than the 80’s pop group as Allan continues to hit all the right notes as a manager for the business! bought from him. Congratulations Allan, and thank you!" With that, let’s hear from the man himself. We asked Allan a bit about what he gets up to at work. What’s your role at Griffin Mill? I recently changed role to Group Purchasing Manager. Prior to that I was the Used Car Sales Manager for over 5 years. As we recently opened our new Nissan site on Power Station Hill, there was a great opportunity for this new role to source quality cars for both our busy used car sites What’s the biggest challenge in your job? The whole job is a real challenge! The most difficult part is finding quality reliable cars that meet the standards at Griffin Mill. There are so many poor quality cars out there in the marketplace it takes real skill and experience to ensure I find the right ones to carry the Griffin Mill badge of quality. People spend a lot of money on their cars and it’s only right that we help to take the worry out of the buying process. It’s important to us that we get it right, that’s why the same customers keep coming back again and again. What are you looking forward to most over the next year? We are really excited about Nissan joining the Griffin Mill Family. It’s a fantastically popular brand that customers previously had to drive all the way to Cardiff and Newport to buy or service there Nissan. With the wonderful range and our friendly Griffin Mill way of doing business we can’t help to make it a great success. We also relocated our Skoda department to a purpose built showroom next door to
Nissan and it’s really taken off in a big way and they’re keeping me so busy replacing all the sold cars! What do you like best about your role? It’s the variety really. I drive all over the country sourcing the best value cars I can find, and with our 5 brands being so busy, It’s a nonstop challenge every day to keep up with the demand. The great thing is every week it’s always a bit different. What’s your favourite brand at Griffin MIll? Well... Did I mention the 5 brands? I’ve always been a little biased toward Peugeot as it’s been with us for over 22 years. That said, I always choose to drive a Kia Sportage because they look and drive so well or the ŠKODAS because they are so comfortable and well built. I’m planning on having a Nissan Qashqai next as I think the styling and engines are wonderful. What’s Anthony Griffin like to work for? I’m going to say nice things as I’m sure he’s going to read this! In all seriousness, to spend 30 years with a company now days is a real rarity and that really speaks for itself. Anthony is passionate about the staff morals and welfare, as they make Griffin Mill the success it is today. Anthony’s belief is great people give great service and you only have to visit us to see we’re a cut above. I guess that’s why so many staff have been here for so long. None as long as me, mind!
