Hello and welcome to the new edition of Hendy Torque, the newsletter keeping you up to date with everything that’s going on with the Hendy Group. We produce Torque not just with our customers in mind, but also our staff. That’s why we wanted to include an insight into some of the aspects of working for the Hendy Group, such as Hendy GOAL, our internal incentive scheme designed to reward those who go the extra mile. It’s another reason why the Hendy Group really is all about you – it’s not simply a catchphrase! This time of year is always our busiest in terms of organising events away from our normal showroom surroundings. HMS Collingwood Field Gun Day 1st June 2013 On Saturday 1 June 2013 a huge event took place at HMS Collingwood , Hampshire when the gates opened for the ann ual Open Day featuring the Royal Nav y and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) Field Gun Competition. The Hendy Forces team from Fareham were there with the Focus ST Estate, the Kuga Titanium X and the Fiesta Tita nium, answering all your questions. There were some great attractions, includin g displays from the Royal Navy Raiders Parachute Display team and even a fun fair! HMS Sultan Summer Show 15th & 16th Jun e 2013 The Sultan Summer Show is a non -profit event that hosts a wide variety of attractions for all age groups, with the money raised going to local and service cha rities. Kia New Kia Carens The all-new Carens completes the design-led revolution that has transformed Kia’s image. The now-familiar ‘tiger nose’ grille and styling cues match the rest of the handsome Kia range, Pictured: Matthew Robinson. The Carens is solid and spacious inside, with plenty of head, leg and shoulder room for all three rows of seats. There are now three individual sliding and reclining centre-row seats in place of a split bench and two separate seats in the rear, all of which fold flat to ensure the ultimate in passenger-to-cargo versatility. The longer, wider and taller luggage area and the under-floor compartment for storage make the Carens even more flexible. News NSX Concept
Delivering an incredible 400bhp, the new NSX is a four-wheel drive hybrid sports car that storms from 0-62mph in under 5 seconds thanks to a 3.5-litre V6 engine and two electric motors. The styling is likely to set the theme for Honda's future cars. The NSX is available to pre-order, to go on sale in 2015.

Don’t believe the hype! I have seen a website recently claiming to be “up to 60% off main dealer prices”. Knowing how competitive our prices are, I was keen to see what they based the above statement on. In much smaller font there was a link to get more details so I had a look. Above a long list of vehicles is a statement proudly stating the prices “have been validated against like-for-like services”. Interestingly, the highest difference on the list is where a 13 year old Ford was sent to another garage for an interim service. They didn’t however send it to a Ford garage. They sent it to an Audi garage. No wonder the difference was so high. Looking further at the Fords on the list, when they were sent to a known Ford dealer the price differences listed on average are around the
£10 mark. If that’s correct, and it’s a big if, £10 is a small price to pay to have your car seen by a main dealer. A main dealer which has manufacturer-trained technicians, dealership facilities, access to constantly updated technical and warranty information, the latest diagnostic equipment and manufacturer monitored CSI programmes. I joined Hendy in December 2006, working in the Business Centre and then at Eastleigh setting up the Handover Centre. Currently I’m an Aftersales Business Development Manager. In the past I’ve been a dinghy sailing and windsurfing instructor. When I get a chance, I spend my free time mountain biking, windsurfing at Hayling or taking my children sailing in our dinghy. Specialist Fleet Services Hendy Iveco are pleased to have supplied 72 Iveco trucks and vans last year to Specialist Fleet Services Ltd. based in Northampton. The vehicles are operated by Cory Environmental Municipal Services Ltd. and include Daily, Eurocargo and Trakker vehicles, many with bespoke conversions to suit the operational requirements. The new vehicles supplement Cory’s existing fleet of 45 Iveco vehicles which have been purchased from Hendy St Austell over the last six years, and are to be used for the collection of all the domestic waste
and recyclable materials as well as carrying out street cleansing operations throughout the county of Cornwall. Mr Dave Sheppard, Technical Support Manager at SFS is working with Cory to place a further order for fourteen additional Iveco vehicles during May 2013 to be operated within the Cory fleet. The orders will once again be placed through our St Austell operation and we look forward to continuing our excellent business relations together.
Vans to Africa! Able and Cole donated an Iveco van to Malawi in December 2010 for a charity called Starfish Malawi. The vehicle has been a great help for the community, delivering maize, school equipment and building materials. It has been working hard for the charity but is now costing a lot of money to keep on the road. So a replacement vehicle was sent earlier this year and Hendy Van and Truck inspected and carried out repairs to the vehicle as well as completing a full service free of charge.
