The design of this house is based on the resident lecturer – Shomei Tomatsu. He is Japanese. In order to make him feel like home, many elements of traditional Japanese house are combined to fulfill his needs. He is a photographer who is addicting to preserve a beautiful moment. His photos show Japanese Spirit, Attitude and Life. These are the most important and beautiful things. However, time will not stop. It takes away the beauty. I came out with my concept “ beauty can not be locked”. In traditional Japanese house, only one thing is presentable. It is courtyard. Therefore, the courtyard is placed at the center of this house. Unroofed courtyard is the heart of the house, all the space facing the courtyard to strengthen the space contact of horizontal and vertical directions. He experiences his up and down, day and night at this wonderland.

Teaching and learning center is a public space. It is open, transparent and close to nature and person-toperson communicational building. At assignment 1, I designed a modern Japanese traditional house for Japanese photographer - Shomei Tomatsu. That house is an Introversion space. But at assignment 2 is to design a public space, so I use some elements of traditional Japanese housing to design an open plan and the flexibility of personal spaces, such as corridor and garden. For that purpose, using columns structure to separate zones without wall in this building.

THE GRID DESIGN
On ground floor, columns are uniformly assigned on the grid to plan spaces. The diameter of all columns is 300mm to strut slab. The columns produce spaces and open plan. The areas are divided different size by glass walls, as for different purposeful application, for example cafeteria and library. Each glass room faces to outside environment to strengthen extraversion. Glass walls allow daylight filters into spaces and become a communicational medium of Indoor and outdoor through mirror effect.

On second floor, there is a large multifunction room. Students have the freedom to alter the spaces for different needs within a reasonably short time period, and in that way various spaces are connected with each other. The areas of multifunctional rooms are enhanced producing by the first floor space. In multifunction rooms, the columns can form the space and produce some soft, ambiguous kind of border. It can be changed spaces of various sizes to fulfill the needs of different types of activities, such as tutorial, seminar, review and exhibition of works. It provides a high public capacity. the lily in the city Introduction
the lily in the city An Ueban Church for Christians
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is to design a church in the city of high population density, as the core accompanied with a social service provider. This protestant church together with a elderly center , a church hall and supplementary spaces, provides a location not only for religious pursuits and congregations but a place for the community to come together. Depending on the particular choice of seating arrangement, the main hall can accommodate 300 people, and the chapel of rest can accommodate up to about 100 people. The silhouette of the new church marks the beginning of the further development of the underused neighboring urban area.
the lily in the city Concept & Elevations
The concept of church is derived from the lily of Holy Bible. In Bible, often referred lily. Such as Jesus said " Why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. " That flower is beautiful, pure, fragrant symbol. By the lily inspiration christians should live out the beauty of holiness, special, trust in God' care. The lily is not only inspiration for the form, but also for the light . The majority of light coming into the flow spaces is from above through the roof with the skylight. Christian religion actively and aggressively, the message of religion is communicated subtly through the play of light and shadow in this architecture. Therefore, lily is inspiration for my church.
