Device offering games for 5-7 years old children with auditory processing disorder (APD) to facilitate their therapy
RESEARCH AND PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION Literature and Field Research Auditory processing disorder (APD) is a neurological hearing problem that affects about 5% of school-aged children.Kids with APD do not have organic (mechanic) problems in their hearing systems. In the therapy products market there is no specific solution to demands of the kids to facilitate their therapy. 40% of kids with APD comes with sensory integration . Known therapy methods: Storytelling, Repeat games, filling blanks, Phonem games,Wii, Xbox, rhythm games.
Symptoms
APD
Talking defection in noise
Auditory perception defection
Sound location distinguising defection
Word frequency, phonem understanding defection
Slow processing defection
Outcomes Scheduled therapy is effective therefore doctors prepare weekly program.
Kids with APD tent to play individually.
Therapy of APD is mostly done at home with multi-sound approach.
