Ordinary world Our students are more and more consumers instead of creators. Our educational system is feeding that. We want to form them into creative, independent thinkers, instead we're creating accountants... I think now is the time to change. I want to develop a creative playground in which students work on creating Proof of Concepts using and combining new technologies. The projects should lead to a better environment, in the fields of culture, healthcare, social coherence.
Call to action I like creating order out of chaos, and reorder that. No boundaries, many mistakes, serendipity. Learning with eachother discovering new things and turn it into knowledge. Multi, inter and trans disciplinair.

Yes, I started it. I found 5 partners in the field of healthcare. I couldn't get students because it wouldn't fit in the existing educational system. There was no way to relate it to the body of knowledge in figures ( for accreditation) The organisation wasn't ready at that time. I think the time has come. What could stop me is lack of support from collegues and the politics within the organisation.
To infinity and beyond... An environment which is safe, where you can be free, play, explore and grow together. Let's make better things... Ordeal Selling it, with a good financial estimation. Get the timing right. Partners, projects and the right students at the right place.

Refusal of the call Students don't step out of there comfort zone. They go to school every day to follow the classes but that's all they do. Many students don't go searching for opportunities outside the lessons. I think it's good to give students opportunities for learning more outside of school (give them connections in the business) and to encourage them to give there opinion. Call to action Helping other people and inspiring other people to do awesome things with their life. Not being selfish but also thinking about other people is something i think everyone should do. 4

I started by helping people that are close to me but I didn’t felt like I had the power to help more people (because im also just a student). Now we have the Student Research Center (student company of the HAN ICA) that makes it more able to do but i need more people who wants to help other people.
Not being able to influence people, people have to choose for it before it will be able to work. I think I need a good example before people start to believe in it.
Treasure New ideas to think outside of the box and help the society. There are already a lot of students who stay inside of the box, we need them to get out of it to make changes in everyday problems.
Meeting with the mentor People who are working and have a successful live story to inspire students and want to help them to also be successful.

Crossing the threshold Rejection of people that don't want to help or feeling guilty because people are disappointed.
By talking to the people around you, connect in real life. Also it is very good to have a moment together to realize what we have and where we want to go. That can be in a group but is also good for personal use to stay close to yourself.
Testing allies and enemies Friends are people who love to work hard. People who i ignore are people that are lazy or people who are not direct en tend to delay activities.

Arrival I don't think selfishness is a way to grow in life so i would love to let people see that. I would like to get new ideas by letting people work together and create amazing opportunities for the next generation of students

ANNE-MIEKE ZAAT Ordinary world I like the education at the HAN, I like the facilities at our Audio Visual Department and the vlc we have for my minor International Sustainable development cooperation. But I would like to get the students more involved and less complaining. The system is too strict, there are to much assignments and rules and to less student initiatives. What I really want, is that students decide themselves, what they want to learn and how they want to learn with whom. We have so much specialities at the HAN, i would love to shop more and learn from other students and my colleques. I love to share and to learn and teach New things. My dream is the minor International sustainable Development Cooperation a minor for students from all faculties, with cooperation and involvement from all faculties. We have a HAN project in Bangalore, which needs some extra input, it was my initiative, but is has to grow now.

Call to action The fablab, I really love that space. In August I have 2 Indian student visitors for 6 weeks, O would love more involvement in their stay from other students. I would love to learn more in the technical department, together with my social work students. I am working hard on making contact with other faculties, to broaden the horizons.
Arrival I want my students to find their own way, to develop their talents, to challenge their limits, to guide them to learn New things. Especially when it has to do with sustainability and Human Rights. It will make a better world.
Refusal of the call Sure, I was in the fablab, schedules of students makes it hard to mingle. I tried to get the ica involved in my 1000 days app, but it is not yet done.

Meeting with the mentor Colleagues from different faculties who want to cooperate. I have support from International Office, from my manager and from my room mates in my office. I have a good contact with students. I try to be open, fair, honest and respectful. I always look for people who can structure and do have writing skills and are positive in life.
Road Back Be at home in my vegetable garden, playing piano, drawing and painting, making pictures.
Crossing the threshold I am a traveller, so I can live with a lot of uncertainties. Things are never finished. I always bring my own morning coffee, everywhere in the world. When I can have clean drinking water and a place to sleep, where it is warm enough and nice trustful people around me, it is ok. I dont like it, when people tell me what to do and how to do it. I hate it when people misuse their power.
Insight Child rights, Human Rights, love and Peace. Connections, humor, a laughter. Elixer Here comes the sun, every day. The sunrise makes me happy.

Ordinary world I think there is a opportunity in the way students can follow their subjects. We have to learn for exams and we have forgotten the learned materials a few weeks later. I think that there could be a bigger relation between the curriculum and the field. Besides that, i think that students should be able to choose the way they are going to fill in the assignments. Not everything has to go according to the rules and regulations, let the students be creative. Call to action My higher ideal image is to know the basics about almost everything, and know almost everyting about the fields I'm interested in. 8

I know my interests and what i want to do with and after my study. I am reading books about the things i'm interested in. All this to find the employment that's in line with my interests. Things that can stop me, are: financials and low job opportunities Meeting with the mentor
I hope that, thanks to this journey, i can contribute to the educational innovation made for one of the subjects next year. I hope that the students will be more attracted to the subjects and the assignments as a part of the subject.
Treasure Crossing the threshold
The professional me wants to coöperate with people (team) with different interests, different minds and ideas. This ay lead to conflicts, but this will help to come with the best ideas and solutions. When everybody goes in the same direction, not all aspects will be discussed.
My biggest challenge will be my English. I am able to understand (almost) everything that's said, but i might have trouble to express my thoughts in English. Besides that, I hope i can learn and think about ways to make myself, and other students, more attracted to the subjects.

Testing allies and enemies It frightens me that i can't find a job that i like, and that i am doing things i really don't like. I'm working hard to become the best employee for the jobs i like. I have to keep in mind that i don't work to hard, because if i do, i might neglect friendships.
I hope i can look back at a beautiful learning journey and experiences. It would be wonderful if the educational innovation would work and other students are excited about it.

The people who support me and i can have a good time with are the people i can call friends. Like friends from my former schools, sports and offcourse my current education. I try to ignore people who are jealous about the things i've achieved and saying that everything comes naturally to me, like i don't have to work for it.
I use social media and by undertaking social activities with friends and family. Elixer Joy in life is important for me. This includes the joy of learning. If i learn something i'm interested in, i will learn it easier and there is a bigger change i will retain the information. 9

PEPIJN VAN HOVE Ordinary world At HAN university of applied science we still teach on a traditional way. The average teacher is still convinced that knowledge transfer/acquisition of knowledge is the best way to educate learners. The main question is according to our traditional beliefs: "what is the best knowledge and how can we put it in the heads of our students?" A more interesting question is however: "what kind of learning environment can best stimulate self-determined learning?" or "how can learning be learned?". I see a lot of opportunities. I think time has come to make changes. This week I organized a meeting for all my colleagues to think and discus about our education system and guess what: everyone wants to change! We just do not know how to deal with all the restrictions and rules from HAN. We also have to learn how to learn to use our professional space. We should depart by changing the mindset of our colleagues and helping each other to use our professional space to force change in our own classroom. Student are key. We have to involve them to learn as teachers. 10
Call to action Colleagues who are skeptical and who see problems everywhere make me itch. It is important to think about a desirable future first before thinking in restrictions. My desirable future is that students are eager to learn and shape their own learning. They ask me to help them doing this. I'll be a coach in their learning process. Besides this, they can use me (on their initiative) as a professional who can inspire them by telling stories about my own experiences. The chance to help young people shaping their future by learning makes me jump out of bed. I feel honored to contribute.
Arrival I hope it will bring them 'eagerness'. this is my biggest wish. Students who are eager to make the most out of their lives and careers. I also hope that student would recognize that this is only possible if learning takes place with and from each other. If al people help each other make the most out of their lives the world would be a much better place. Ordeal how to get my enemies on board? Treasure I hope students will find the reason for them to learn. the source of eagerness. I hope to find the key to help students finding their source of eagerness. I also want to closely connect/bond with the people who go with me to Kaospilots. Hopefully we can help each other a be a team.

Crossing the threshold My personal dragon is myself. My own fears about not developing or learning. Testing allies and enemies I have some partners in crime. Currently i'm studying at a master: learning and innovating. My fellow students are an assets for thinking about creating change. I have some close colleagues who can back me up and their are people higher on the board who have similar ideas about learning and education. My enemies are the rules and restrictions and people who do not know (or willing) to dive them...
Insight Getting to know myself, accepting who I am and finding the space to help others doing this. Elixer everybody who is involved in helping other people learn. But foremost; all people in higher education. We will change the future of higher education forever. It feels refreshing!

KAREN VAN DER BURG Ordinary world
 At the HAN all facility's are fantastic. They do everything they can to help the student with studying. There are enough computers, printers, helpdesks, rooms, books and much more. What bothers me is that for the first two years you have to follow a programm, even if you are familiar with the contents, but if you're not there for 2 lessons, you have to repeat the whole semester. There should be a possibility for students to suggest the things they want to learn, so you still have the motivation to follow the rest of the subjects.

Call to action It should be like a little librairy, where you can sit or talk with students from other years, teachers or with professionals from working field. Where you can find the books you need and where you get challenged about learning more. Refusal of the call At our education we have a professional learning community. But it's too small and there are too many people who are not taking it seriously.
Road Back I really have no idea Insight The quality of life is when you're learning. If you don't learn you stay behind, with a danger of become a outsider or very unhappy. Elixer Unaffected students who don't know witch way to go.

They can't figure out what they want to learn. I'm affraid they will give our education a bad name. Testing allies and enemies I think we all need to respect each other in who we are and what we want. We should be critical to each other, but also stimulative. Arrival A good few from the working field, how you have to be a professional and find out what's important in your life to learn. Ordeal At our education it's the motivation from the students. Most like their study, but doesn't want to do any more then the necessary. Treasure I hope to find that a lot more students will find the study they want to do and the motivation to want to learn. 13

TOM B DE VREUGD Ordinary world In the last few years of my own education (applied psychology) I noticed the lack of intrinsic motivation of fellow students (and also teachers). Including me. Many of them didn't want te be in school, spending their precious time learning (in many cases: absorbing and reproducing). They didn't overstand why education is a blessing, why it is a huge opportunity to have what 'we' have, to develop one-self. I noticed that the question 'Why?' didn't got the attention it deserved-> to make this why a feeling, stirring up from inside, instead of a few meaningless words the teacher says. True learning, sustainable learning, only comes from this internal feeling of why, this drive of intrinsic motivation. This should be the main focus for education; to inspire young people to search this in themselves, to let them know all the anxiety and uncertainty is allright and valuable in their own learning-journey. 14
Call to action When something grants me energy, happiness and a explosion of enthousiasm I know that this is exactly what I really want to do. If it comes to my contribution to this 'time'; I would like to play a part in (re)gaining, stimulating, encouraging the reflective skills of the younger generation. Knowing that when they are able to think, to research, to inquire themselves 'better' (meaning: more positive critical, with acceptence, with love, with a focus on the future and their own 'ideal' self), then they can and will change the way we interact with each other and our planet. Refusal of the call I developed a visual reflective method called (in dutch:) 'het SpiegelWeb', to do my own contribution to education and give a more tunein, creative tool of guiding and stimulating the internal dialogue (which reflection basically is). Main purpose of this tool is increasing intrinsic motivation, positive association and fun in reflecting on oneself. To me, reflection is not something which can be learned, which can be archieved. Every-one should be supported, not instructed, in equality, vulnerability and honesty, so the individual themselves can create a way of (outward) reflection which works for them. And, if everything goes as I hope it goes (which is never the case ;) ): in the very near future I will be working on designing a so-called curriculum(with a focus on self-development) for a company, where students are working on real-life assignments from local companies. Meeting with the mentor I am some-one who likes to do. Who likes to experiment, with some pre-reflection and preperation. Without jumping right in if it doesn't feel right. Who likes to cross I own comfortzones to grow. I look up to people who are somewhat like this, who are not scared to look their
own perception and uncertainity right in the eye! For doing my contribution with 'het SpiegelWeb' (best translated as mirror-web, only sounds kinda cheesy) I am looking for education-innovators-mentors, who want to positively change the way 'we' stimulate the reflection-capability of students. Crossing the threshold I just started my own business and with it comes the strive to maintain the balance between 'doing my contribution' (wanting to mean something, wanting to give something to others) and the financial realism needed as an entrepreneur to exist and develop. I am some-one who is really not interested in the money-thing and that is why this new chapter comes right now. My personal dragon is the spring of thoughts, which are worrying me of future uncertainty financially. Who tries to focus my attention upon doing things to diminish uncertainty and fear, instead of the other side (which is more 'me') to act from trust, from faith, from love. Testing allies and enemies My attention focuses on people which I share a likewise vision with. Who are positive, willing to change themselves to change the world around them, who are not afraid to be honest, vulnerable and 'as real as possible'. Arrival If regular education changes and finds a 'better' way of stimulating reflection (with of without het SpiegelWeb) and if students are more willing (from intrinsic motivation) to reflect upon themselves, then they will think more, be more curious, ask more questions. And in the end, be more empathic. Try to overstand why some-one does the things he does, instead of judging right away (what we see now, mostly). I would like to see the day when it is seen as normal (in the 15
eyes of the general public opinion) to first ask question and try to overstand, instead of taking the easy (and hardest!) path of judging themselves and others.
own reflective capacity/capability, maybe they are in the position to find a more inner joy/happines/peace. Instead of finding this in outer objects of in the future.
Ordeal My expectations come from a 'wanting to contribute'- inner-source, but could also become the cloud which blocks this same source. I contribute when I find the balance (in every moment) between the financial realism and my honest contribution. And there it is, for me to keep this dragon at bay, is to reflect in every moment. Not a deepdown spiralling ration reflection, but an interaction between head and heart.
Elixer I want to serve the elixer to any-one who is interested in it. Not those who don't see, don't feel, don't overstand it's value or contribution, but those who 'move' and are willing to move.
Treasure To me; in doing this, undertaking this challenge (more an opportunity) I am already finding what I need to find. My long-term future goals prevent me from recognizing that which is right now. So, I am trying not looking at any future. Road Back My imagination is the one who determines my roadmap. My intuition is the one who determines which way to go. My thinking mind is there to tune in to the 'language' other people speak, so that we may overstand each other. Insight In my opinion, 'life' is the quality in itself, but 'we' as westerners, as conditioned people, learned a whole heap of stuff in the process of become who we think we are now. Stuff which basically prevents us from discover/uncover the thing we are. In reflection, and by increasing my own reflective skills, I came to this (probably temporary) conclusion. So when others stimulate their own way of reflection, their 16

Life has no purpose, says philosopher John Gray. That’s why we need stories, myths, illusions. That what is ugly and senseless can transform into something beautifull and valuable through stories. Keep on storytelling people! I love every single one of them.
