Intern Architect / National Housing Corporation, Nairobi

Worked a three-month attachment program with the National Housing Corporation in Nairobi in the Architectural department, where I gained a lot of experience as to construction design and supervision, site inspection, preparation of drawings using various software and rendering with the same. I also did report writing during filed works assignment.

SEPTEMBER 2016 – DECEMBER 2016

Intern Architect / Domus Architects and Interior Designers, Nairobi

Worked a three-month internship program as an Intern at Domus architects and interior designers in Nairobi. Mostly I was involved with making drawings correction, doing renders using Artlantis, attending site meetings on ongoing projects and design proposal formulation.

ONE STORY APARTMENT

In an urban setting where land is a scarce resource, the optimal and efficient solution to urban living is through vertical design. One story apartments are the common practice, in that they utilize minimal space yet fully provide for all the essentials of a family home.

HOMESTEAD FACELIFT

This project was about doing a facelift towards the facade of the homestead. My task was to devise a color scheme that would improve the aesthetics of the house.

Through consultations with the owner, we agreed on a neat combination of colors that brought about vibrancy to the whole homestead.

Having a homestead to call home is one of the most achieveing aspect of a family. A beautiful homestead would go a long way in defining the care and love that is a part of the family.

This project was inspired from a short family vacation at Mwember resort in malindi town. The resort had this simple two bedroom cottage style houses that had beautiful facade.

From the short stay i was inspired to recreate the floor plan and 3D visualization from memory tring to incoporate all the details i sawa from the resort.

This project involded transformation of an open space into a workable comfortable office space that is modern and takes into consideration all aspects of creative design.

Through consultations with the owner, we agreed on a funtionable simple design taking into consideration the size and amentities that would allow for a smooth running office.

MODERN OPEN PLAN KITCHEN

In todays modern way of living, the simple thoughtful design that comes to interior design is what defines the personality of the people living in it.

The kitchen area has advanced to be more open and accomodating to the larger interior space. Having a good design for the open plan kitchen is key..

In this project, i was all about making a simple open plan kitchen interior that is minimalist and at the same time ,modern. The same theme color and timber floor finish carefully blending to complement the space.

LEVITICUS ELECTRONICS (NAIROBI)

This project involved rethinking of an office space and transforming it into a workable business premise.

The owner of the shop had ideas of how and why he wanted his business premise expanded. I was tasked with using my Design knowledge to help visualize how the new arrangement would turnout, placing all considerations in mind to come up with a beautiful interior.

UNIVERSITY PROJECT (MADARAKA ESTATE)

Madaraka housing plan was my fourth year university project.

It address the housing shortage that faces most urban areas especialy Nairobi subrubs. Through careful designs i was able to showcase how space could be utlized whilst maintaing the sustainable urban housing system.

Sufficient housing that is both sustainable and practical, has always been a challange to most cities due to the ever growing demand for affordadle housing. Through this project the city could save up on land purchases and enhance space utilization though design.
