While Dennis Shi was not personally responsible for recruiting girls from South Korea into Australia, he was aware that the forfeiting and withholding of passports were illegal, as was the debt bondage arrangement that the Korean girls got themselves into. He certainly did his best to try and exploit their circumstances when they arrived in Melbourne, by shopping them around the various establishment and making a tidy sum of money in between. In the process, making life long enemies as well.

In hindsight, the transition from the brothel industry to real estate was a very natural and logical progression, for Dennis Shi. It all revolves around commission arrangement and the manipulation of people – over promising and under delivering. Much like some real estate agents, over promising to the vendors by listing the property at a high price, and then under quoting to prospective buyers to draw a crowd.
