Tuesday January 27th 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Star ng Seeds Outdoors In Winter In this session we will explore the easiest way to start seeds you will ever try! This method of seed star ng was brought to my a en on last winter and I had great success. Bring empty and rinsed two liter soda bo les or rinsed gallon or half gallon milk jugs. Bring several so as to share! Soil and perennial flower seeds will be supplied. Come get an early start and learn the easy way to start seedlings. FREE! Register by January 20th. Limit 40. Tuesday February 3rd at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Introduc on To Beekeeping Nelson County Agent for Hor culture Robbie Smith will teach you the basics of ge ng started in beekeeping. He will cover basic equipment, hive types and sizes, honeybee species, and much more. Register by January 30th. FREE! Door prizes!


Tuesday March 3rd at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Vegetable Gardening With Heirloom Varie es Heirloom varie es were selected for taste not shipping quality. And if you think “hybrid” home grown vegetables taste good, heirloom varie es will knock your socks off! In this installment we will cover variety selec on and the basics of growing a boun ful 3 season garden with great tas ng heirlooms. Each par cipant will take home a treasuretrove of seeds to try at home. $10.00 Register by February 15th. Limit 40 par cipants. Tuesday March 24th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM “Souper” Special In this installment we are all about soup! Come learn how to grow potatoes, onions (leeks and shallots too) like a pro. We will cover variety selec on, culture, and storage. I will also share my wife’s “Tater Soup Recipe”. Join us and enjoy the “vegetables” of your labor for months to come. Each par cipant will receive seed potatoes and onions to plant in their garden. $10.00 Register by February 15th. Limit 40.


Tuesday March 31st at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Primocane Blackberries and Raspberries No longer do you have to worry about late spring freezes ge ng your berries! Primocane frui ng blackberries and raspberries have the ability to bloom and fruit on new canes, meaning you get fruit in late summer and fall not just spring. Join us to learn how to manage these tasty treats. Each par cipant will get several plants to try at home, including the new Prime Ark Freedom Blackberry which is thornless! $20.00 Register by February 15th. Limit 25 par cipants. Tuesday April 7th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Caladiums, Callas, Cannas OH MY! Many gardeners are afraid to try tender bulbs, but with the right care they are easy as pie! In this session we will cover the basics of growing these beau es, winter storage, and proper placement for full season color. Each par cipant will receive a variety of sizes, shapes, colors and more to try at home. Register by March 10th. $20.00 per person. Limit 40.


Tuesday April 28th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM New and Exci ng Annuals and Perennials In this session we will cover the annuals and perennials that I find interes ng, exci ng, and not readily available in Central Kentucky. You will just have to trust me to find a sampling of the best of the best. You must register early for this one, by March 1st. Each par cipant will receive several small plants to try and recommenda ons on placement, uses, and habit. $25.00 per person. You won’t want to miss this one! Limit 40 Tuesday May 12th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Sweet Potatoes In this session you will learn how to grow great sweet potatoes! Sweet potatoes come in a variety of colors and some will SHOCK YOU! Each par cipant will get mul ple varie es of sweet potato slips to try at home as well as recipes. Not only are we going to teach you how to grow sweet potatoes but how to cure and store them so you can enjoy them all winter long. Register by April 15th. FREE!


Tuesday June 2nd at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Clema s...Queen of Vines Clema s aren’t hard to grow or to keep looking nice through the season but they do come in varying types as far as bloom me, growth habit, size, shape, pruning needs etc. In this session we will cover all things clema s so they can really be the queen of your garden. Register by April 1st. Each par cipant will receive at least 2 one year old plants to grow at home. There will be several colors and varie es available you will be able to pick from while supplies last. $10.00 clema s fee. Tuesday June 23rd at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Hardy Asters For Kentucky Gardens Asters give great fall color to beds and borders and are easy to grow! They will return year a er year with minimal work as well. Join us for a look into variety selec on, plan ng placements, and uses for a colorful aster display. Each par cipant will receive small aster plants as well. $10.00 aster fee. Register by May 1st.


Tuesday August 25th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Growing The “Other” Iris Most gardeners are familiar with and probably have at least a few bearded iris in their gardens but there are other beau ful iris you should have as well. In this session we will cover the “Beardless” iris including Louisiana, Siberian, and a few others you might not know about. There are also a few na ve species to Kentucky! Join us for an explora on of Iris. Each par cipant will receive plants to try at home. Register by August 1st. $20.00 iris fee.

Tuesday September 15th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Extending The Vegetable Season Did you know there are techniques to extend your vegetable harvest in spring and fall? Come learn what techniques and equipment will help you have garden fresh vegetables long a er your neighbors have been buying theirs from California. FREE! Register by September 1st.


Tuesday September 29th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM African Violets African violets are one of the most beloved and beau ful houseplants. Believe it or not they aren’t hard to grow. With a few ps you too can have a beau ful blooming window seal garden. We will discuss plant selec on, care and maintenance, and propaga on. Each par cipant will receive at least two po ed violets beginning to bloom to take home. Register by September 1st. FREE! Limit 40. Tuesday October 13th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM The True Lilies It seems daylilies get all the glory but for a spectacular show don’t leave out the “True Lilies”. That’s right daylilies aren’t true lilies. True lilies form fleshy scaled bulbs not just fleshy roots like daylilies. Join us as we look into the secret world of true lilies. They come in many sizes, shapes, colors, and fragrances as well. Each par cipant will take home a nice sampling of lilies to plant at home. Register by September 1st. $20.00 Lily Fee.


Tuesday October 27th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Crea ng A Meadow Garden Meadow gardens are a beau ful way to mimic nature in a way that adds color, wildlife habitat, beauty, and ads to an overall healthy ecosystem. Meadow gardens don’t have to be very large or even in a meadow se ng. Join us for ps on how to create this natural oasis on your property. Register by October 1st. FREE! Par cipants will receive a seed mix of Kentucky na ves to plant a small sunny meadow garden. Tuesday November 3rd at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Holiday Cactus The tle of this class is holiday cactus because most of us call these beau ful plants Christmas Cactus but that isn’t accurate. There are several types and varie es of these beau ful easy to grow plants all with specific bloom mes. In this session we will cover the basics of growing and flowering holiday cactus. We will discuss iden fica on, propaga on, and general care. Par cipants will receive small plants to grow at home. $10.00 Register by October 1st.
