Dusek reflects on his career with Warren County Municipal CEO to retire in March By Thom Randall

QUEENSBURY — Approaching retirement at the end of March, Warren County Administrator Paul Dusek — the top executive officer of local government — shared his thoughts this week about his eventful career. Dusek was raised in Warrensburg after his family moved to the area in the mid-1960s. He graduated Warrensburg Central School in 1973, having attended since fourth grade. Dusek continued his education at Adirondack Community College, where he studied for two years. He met his wife at ACC — and in 1975 they were chosen as ACC Winter Weekend King and Queen by the student body. Months later, they were married, and decided to live in Queensbury, their pres-

ent hometown. After graduating from ACC, Paul Dusek worked as a salesman at Montgomery Ward department store, continuing to take a few courses at the local community college. In 1986, the two moved to Colonie — and Paul attended Siena College for two years, graduating in 1978. Later that year, he studied at Albany Law School, graduating in 1981. Dusek was admitted to the bar in 1982. He then worked for a law firms in Albany, Schenectady and Poughkeepsie before he took the full-time position of town attorney for Queensbury in 1988. Dusek was chosen as Warren County Attorney in 1996, and he was promoted to the county Administrator post in March 2010. CHESTERTOWN — Dynamite Hill is set to explode with fun as the annual Krazy Downhill Derby returns to town Feb. 13. Guests can start the day off with a free continental breakfast at the ski hut beginning at 9 a.m., courtesy of the Chestertown Rotary. In a region where winter sports reign supreme, the derby is sure to offer a fun celebration of winter. Dozens of competitors have spent months planning and constructing their sleds. More than 20 sleds with a variety of themes are expected to come careening down the hill. In previous years, entries have included a rocket, a penguin, Sponge Bob Squarepants, Thomas the Tank Engine, a gigantic yellow duck and many more.
