Halloween comes to Minerva By Mike Corey

MINERVA — There were witches, ghoulish folk, princesses, outrageously blue haired people, zombie-types, even oddly dressed horses, to go with the games, food, dancing and fun. It wasn’t just any Saturday at Minerva Central School – it was Halloween. Several community organizations pooled their resources and the result was a Halloween party for the kids of Minerva as well as others who happened to stop by. The Town of Minerva Youth Commission sponsored the party with lots of help. Providing food, decorations, prizes,

and/or funding for this event were the Minerva Service Organization, Minerva Sleeping Giants, Minerva Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad and Minerva Central School. Providing non-stop entertainment throughout the afternoon was Two Guys D. J. Services from Queensbury. Kid games were organized by the MCS Student Council and MCS National Honor Society. Also making an appearance was Madam Minerva, returning to the MCS venue with her tarot card readings. The Minerva Youth Commission is planning more activities for later in November and December. There will be skating and laser tag activities Nov. 21 and bowling Dec. 12 in Lake George.

Johnsburg says no to longer terms By Christina Scanlon

christina@suncommunitynews.com

JOHNSBURG — Three propositions that would have extended terms for three town officials were handily defeated by voters Tuesday.

Passing the propositions would have changed terms from two years to four years for the positions of the town supervisor, town clerk and highway superintendent. Officials had previously voiced concerns that two-year terms aren’t enough time for a person to learn their role and make progress. In the region, terms vary among townships. >> Story Continued | pg. 3
