TICONDEROGA — Plans are in the works for a new ramp at the Ticonderoga Senior Center, which could help the facility open its doors to more members of the senior community. Town officials anticipate moving forward with the mobility-enhancing amenity later this year at the senior facility, which is located in the basement of the Ticonderoga Armory, 123 Champlain Ave. “It’s going to be a big, big help,” said Jacqueline Hurlburt, a regular participant in senior center programming. While Hurlburt, 62, said she has not experienced trouble accessing the building, other community members have struggled to gain access. “The ramp is going to be good for the ones that have to use electric (wheelchairs),” Hurlburt said. Ann Dolback, activities director at the senior center, said the ramp is expected to be installed by the current entrance to the senior center. In addition, she said a door by the ramp is slated for an update, Dolback said. CONTINUED ON PAGE 10
