WARRENSBURG — The top 10 members of the Warrensburg Central School Class of 2016 has been announced by the administration. Bethaney Galusha is the daughter of Leon and Jill Galusha of Warrensburg. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Varsity Softball Team, Junior Statesman of America and our school’s chapter of SAAD. Bethaney will be attending Saint Michael’s College in the fall to pursue a degree in Pre-Law. Caitlin Vaisey is the daughter of Wendell and Crystal Vaisey of Warrensburg. She is a member of the National Honor Society, 4H, Junior Statesman of America and our SAAD organization. Caitlin will be attending SUNY Adirondack in the fall to study Nursing and plans to transfer to Sage to become a Nurse Practitioner. Thomas Schuettinger is the son of Jennifer Doersam of Warrensburg. Tom has enjoyed being involved in Warrensburg’s music program throughout high school, playing guitar, bass, singing and holding leading roles in the drama productions. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Master Singers and Senior Band. Tom will be attending Keuka College in the fall to pursue a degree in psychology. Erin Langworthy is the daughter of Darren and Amy Langworthy of Warrensburg. Erin has been a three sport athlete playing Varsity Field Hockey, Basketball and Softball throughout her high school career. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Varsity club as well. Erin will be attending Hartwick College in the fall to pursue a degree in physical therapy as well as playing collegiate basketball. Tyler Toolan is the son of Timothy and Deborah Toolan of Warrensburg. Tyler is a member of the National Honor Society, Drama Club, and has spent his junior and senior year of high school in the Early College in the High School Program at SUNY Adirondack studying Advanced Manufacturing. Tyler will be attending Clarkson University in the fall to pursue a degree in Engineering and Management. Jessica Benoit is the daughter of Tracy and Tammy Benoit of Warrensburg. She is the president of the Varsity Club, a member of the National Honor Society, Varsity Softball team and Upper Hudson Maple Association. Jessica will be attending the College of Saint Joseph to study Health Sciences and one day hopes to become a
surgeon or surgical PA. Joseph Schuster is the son of Elizabeth Schuster and the late Gerard Schuster of Warrensburg. Joe is a member of the National Honor Society, Varsity Football team and is an avid snowboarder. He has spent his junior and senior year participating in the Early College in the High School Program through SUNY Adirondack where he has studied Advanced Manufacturing. Valedictorian, Cate Hill: The academic transcript of this National Honor Society student is a reflection of one who is not only at the top of her class, but also of one who has selected a most demanding academic course load. Throughout her high school experience, Cate has selected courses that would provide her with an opportunity to sharpen her strong leadership
skills. As a senior, Cate has continued in her selection of the most academically challenging courses available to her, in addition to many extracurricular and personal growth activities. In her school, Cate has maintained significant roles on the Girls Varsity Basketball, Field Hockey and Softball teams throughout high school, as well as serving in the roles of vicepresident and president for three consecutive years for her class. Cate is also active in the Interact Chapter, Yearbook Club, serving as the treasurer, and in school drama as well as in band and chorus. Cate also provided an invaluable stage presence in both the “Fiddler on the Roof ” and in the “Wizard of Oz” school productions. In her community, Cate volunteers her time in the annual “Snow Cross” event, at the Community Thanksgiving Din-
ners, as part of the North Warren Natural Helpers team, and as part of the Northern Points Cluster youth group. Her talent on the clarinet was presented at the 2014 National Band / Orchestra Festival in Manhattan. Other recognition earned by Cate includes, Junior Student of the Month, the academic designation of “Most Outstanding” in almost all subjects, as well as “Most Outstanding Female by Grade” for multiple years. Cate has earned the Air Force Math and Science Award for three years, and was named as the Class of 2016 representative for Empire Girls’ State at SUNY Brockport. recognized as a Post-Star Teen Excellence award recipient, Rotary Student of the Month, and the Capital District Scholars recognition. Without a doubt, Cate’s principles of tenacity, character and integrity will serve her well as she majors in English studies at Siena College this fall. Salutatorian, William (Orry) Bruce: This National Honor Society Student has consistently ranked second in his class, which is no small feat, considering the academic challenge he has undertaken. Orry has served as a delegate in the SUNY Model Organization of American States (MOAS), for two years running. In his school, Orry has participated in Boys’ Varsity Basketball, Baseball and Soccer. He also participated in Jazz Band, playing the Saxaphone, and in School Drama productions, such as “The Wizard of Oz”, “Fiddler on the Roof ”, and “The Lion King”. He has also been involved with the Select Choir, and in Foreign Language Club. In his community, Orry volunteers at the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinners, MOAS fundraisers, and participated in Middle League. Recognitions earned include, Junior
Student of the Month, several academic “Most Outstanding” awards in Geometry, Spanish, AP Chemistry and in PE. As a junior, Orry was selected for the 2015 American Legion Boys’ State as a representative for North Warren. He was also selected for the Coach’s Awards in both baseball and in soccer. Finally, Orry was also selected for the highly competitive Elmira College Key Award and the Rensselaer Medal last year, as well as making the Principal’s List, for maintaining greater than a 95 average each quarter for the past year. Orry is a natural leader who applies his talents and skills to any situation he is involved with. Throughout high school, he has remained as an invaluable asset for any activity he contributes to. Orry’s natural talents in math and science will serve him well as he majors in the field of chemical engineering at Clarkson University this fall. North Warren central will hold their commencment exercises Saturday, June 25, in the North Warren Central School Auditorium, at 11 a.m. The Commencement speaker will be Amy Gronert, sixth grade teacher/Interact Advisor. He has a 99.29 GPA and a New York State Regents diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and with Mastery in Mathematics. He will attend the University of Rochester to study Biochemistry and Pre-Medicine. The Salutatorian, Brittany J. Foote, daughter of Donald and Elsia Foote of Ticonderoga. She has successfully completed the Allied Health program at CVTEC and was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. She has a 93.26 GPA as she completes her New York State Regents Diploma. She will attend North Country Community College in Ticonderoga and pursue a career in Nursing. The commencement exercises will be held Friday, June 24, in the gymnasium, at 7 p.m.

These students represent the top 10 percent of their class. In addition to speaking at graduation, the honors students also make decisions concerning the graduation theme, music, program design, and selecting of a charity. The honors students are as follows: Erika Stephanie Abrantes, daughter of Tony and Sarah Abrantes, is president of the National Senior Honor Society, and a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Captain’s Leadership Council, and Business Honor Society. A three-season sports athlete, Erika has been involved in cross-country, Nordic skiing, and track and field throughout high school. Achievements in her cross-country career include being the Adirondack League Champion for the last three consecutive years, qualifying for the state meet, breaking and holding current Lake George course records, and earning the status of captain during her junior and senior years. She also earned the title of captain her senior year of track and field. Erika has been affiliated with the Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO), volunteering at the Holiday Craft Fair and Fall Festival. She has also volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Drive, Double H Ranch Walkathon, Annual Scholarship Phone-a-thon, Highway Cleanup, the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund, the FBLA Sacred Heart Food Drive, modified track meets, and seventh grade activities. Erika has been named student of the quarter several times every year, and earned a place on the Principals’ List consistently. She was named the Time Warner Cable Student Athlete of the Week and was interviewed, filmed, and then appeared on the Time Warner Cable news station. She was also featured as the Chronicle Student Athlete of the week, voted prom queen by her class, and took part in the school play “All Shook Up” this past spring. Erika works at the Garrison Restaurant year-round. She will be attending the University of New England in the fall and plans to study medicine biology/premedicine. Jessica Jean Hunsicker is the daughter of Suzanne and Timothy Hunsicker. She is president of French Honor Society, co-president of Spectrum Club, and secretary of both Model Organization of American States (OAS) and National Senior Honor Society. Jessica is an active member in French Club, Yearbook Committee, Art Club, Environmental Club, Drama Club, Senior Select Chorus, and Astronomy Club. She has participated in the school musical for the past three years with a lead role in this year’s All Shook Up. Jessica has also been involved in All-County Chorus for two years. She was a Girl Scout for 11 years, earning both bronze and silver awards for her dedication to volunteering in the community. She is a recent recipient of the Adirondack Area School Boards Association Community Service Award, recognizing her volunteer work with the Red Cross, Double H Hole in the Woods Ranch, Adopt-A-Highway,
Habitat for Humanity, PTSO, and Caldwell Presbyterian Church. Jessica is the recipient of an Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar award, the Triple “C” award from New York State, a Choral Merit Certificate, and Student of the Quarter in French, technology, music, and English. She attended the Hugh O’Brian leadership training conference and is a 2015 graduate of the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). This past fall, she travelled with RYLA to the United Nations headquarters in New York City for a day conference. Jessica is a certified peer counselor and has twice attended the nationally recognized True Colors Conference on diversity. She traveled as a student ambassador in 2013 to England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and Northern Ireland with a delegation of People to People. She travelled with the Salem Festival Choir to Ludinghausen, Germany, the following year to perform with a youth orchestra. She will travel to Peru this summer in reflection of her time spent as a delegate of Peru through her Model OAS class. Following her travels abroad this summer, Jessica plans to work at her family’s business, the Lake George RV Park, and hopes to intern at Grant Cottage. She is the recipient of the University of Rochester’s Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass award, and Rochester Institute of Technology’s (RIT) Creativity and Innovation award. Jessica will be attending the University of Rochester in the fall with a focus on American history, English language and literature, conservation, and curatorial studies. She aspires to work as a historian and steward at Civil War landmarks for the National Parks Service. Brett Robert Parsons, son of Mike and Colette Parsons of Lake George, is the vice president of National Senior Honor Society, captain of the Lake George football team, plus representative and treasurer of the Class of 2016. He is also involved in Student Council, French Honor Society, and Captain’s Leadership Council. Brett was a part of the Rotary Youth Leadership Association and was a state assemblyman in the American Legion Boys State. For most of his school career, Brett has been a three-sport athlete, playing baseball, football, and basketball. He was featured as a scholar-athlete in
The Chronicle newspaper, and was named a first team punter and second team wide receiver by The Post Star. Brett was also given the Section Two Scholar-Athlete Award and was named a Section 2 All Star for football. He has performed community service work with the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department, Lake George PTSO Holiday Fair, Sacred Heart Church, Lake George Arts Project, Lake George Youth Commission Baseball Clinic, and Double H Ranch. He spent last summer working at the Boathouse Restaurant. Brett plans to pursue a major in aviation science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the fall. Noah Spencer Prime, son of Ted and Donna Prime of Lake George, is currently enrolled in the New Visions Engineering program. He is vice president of the French Honor Society and a member of both the National Senior Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. Noah is president of the Varsity Club and an active member of the French Club, Jazz Band and performed in the high school play. He has also been a three-sport varsity athlete since the ninth grade, being a part of four Section II Championship teams in soccer, alpine skiing and tennis. As a sophomore, Noah was a starter on his 2013 State Final Four soccer team. He has captained his soccer team for two years and his skiing and tennis teams for one. He has been featured as the student-athlete of the month in 2013 by the Adirondack Phantoms and again by The Chronicle in 2015. Noah is an AP Scholar. In the fall, Noah plans to attend Western Washington University to major in chemistry. Andrea Catherine Smith, daughter of Martha and Patrick Smith of Queensbury, is vice president of Spanish Honor Society, a representative of the Class of 2016, and a member of National Honor Society. Andrea is also an active member in Spanish Club, Student Council, Varsity Club, and Effective Schools Committee. A two-sport athlete, Andrea has played soccer and has been a member of the track team. She has achieved the distinction of being an Adirondack All-Star in soccer for the past three years, and has won a Section II Championship with her relay team in track. In recognition
of her academic and athletic achievements, Andrea was a featured scholar-athlete in The Chronicle. She is also an active member of her community and has volunteered at various events such as the Relay for Life, the Double H Ranch Walk-A-Thon, and the local soup kitchen in Glens Falls. Andrea has also tutored students in Spanish and math. This year, she received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award. Andrea will be attending SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in the fall where she will study conservation biology. Kerry Linda Walker, daughter of Linda and Mark Walker of Queensbury, is a student in the New Visions Engineering program. She is a member of the Quiz Bowl Academic Team, French Honor Society, French Club, and Varsity Club. As a musician, she plays the clarinet and bass clarinet, and has participated in New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), All County, Jazz Band, and the Northeast Instrumental Music Festival, where she was first chair every year she attended. Kerry has a love of travel, and has visited Japan, Spain, Canada, and Denmark. She also lived in Berlin, Germany for a semester during tenth grade, where she was awarded a German MSA graduation certificate, and played with a local soccer club. She has participated in varsity soccer and varsity Nordic skiing for four years, and was captain of the latter. She has been a member of the varsity track and field team for two years, and was a captain. With her science research project on galaxies with neutral hydrogen tails, Kerry was accepted into the Regional and State Junior Science and Humanities Symposia, and won a physics and astronomy award at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Science Fair. In addition to holding a year-round job, Kerry also volunteers with the Varsity Club, Community Exchange Foundation, and the Sacred Heart Church. Kerry plans to spend a year abroad in the Congress-Bundestag Vocational Youth Exchange to Germany (CBYX) program, and attend Smith College in the fall of 2017. Annie Kathleen Williams, daughter of Philip and Laurie Williams, is a member of National Senior Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Business Honor Society. Annie is an active member of FBLA and has competed at the district and state levels with this organization. Annie was a competitive swimmer on the Schenectady Saratoga Sharks Swim Team. She was an Adirondack League Champion, an Eastern Zones Champion, a Speedo Sectionals Qualifier, and an Adirondack District Record Holder. She has completed many hours of community service, volunteering at events such as the PTSO Holiday Fair, Relay for Life, and PTSO babysitting. Annie is a member of Spanish Club and Drama Club and she has performed in the school musical. Annie plans to attend the State University of New York at Cortland and pursue a major in exercise science.
