The Hidden Dangers of Night Snacking

Eating snacks, especially at night can be very addicting. It will give you a momentary pleasure at first, but in the long run, it could be very harmful to you’re your precious smile.

Nowadays, there are various foods such as sugary, hydrogenated oils, or carbonated water products which leave people craving. Regular consumption of these food items at night can cause tooth decay.

Night snacking usually takes place after the individuals brush their teeth. This, in turn, gives the harmful bacteria to combine with the food particles when you are asleep. Therefore, it is recommended to not indulge in night feasting after brushing your teeth.

The mouth is the driest at night because our body doesn’t produce as much saliva when asleep. Saliva plays a huge role in the removal of sugary items and particles from our mouth. Therefore, night snacking enhances the growth of bacteria for longer duration of time and will make a biofilm on the teeth which eventually leads to decay and cavities.
