What is XP technology?

NO MORE SHARPENING

XP Technology is a patented technique for surface treatment. By using nano-optimised technology, the instruments become significantly more durable. The process also makes it possible to produce thinner instrument tips with sharper blades. Time-consuming sharpening of instruments is thereby eliminated.

Strokes Strokes

Research: University of Toronto, Dr Phillip A. Watson, Dept. of Biological and Diagnostic Sciences

Hardness: 89 Rc

In XP Technology, a super-hard alloy is applied to a stainless steel base. The surface becomes much more durable and wear-resistant. Conventional instruments are made of stainless steel or carbon and reach a hardness level of 58 to 63 on the Rockwell scale. With XP Technology, a hardness of 89 Rc is achieved! XP Instruments last much longer!

Result: Higher wear resistance

Independent research has classified XP Technology as a revolutionary technological advancement in the dental industry. Dr Phillip Watson of the University of Toronto demonstrated the superior longevity of XP instruments in comparison with standard instruments.

In order to get the original edge, you would have to sharpen the instrument along the RED line.

Yourbenefits

• Extremely thin working ends, excellent access into deep pockets

• Ergonomic, light handles

• More comfort, less fatigue

• With XP Technology – no more sharpening!

XP Pro Thin Instruments

Pro Thin Instruments

What makes Pro Thins the perfect periodontal instruments?

Delicate working ends I Precise design I XP® Technology – no sharpening I Ergonomic handles I Best tactile sensation Pro Thin Instruments have been designed for special challenges in periodontal treatment – from deep pockets to tight interproximal areas. The precisely designed working ends and ergonomically gentle periodontal therapy. Using ProThins contributes significantly to the success of the treatment and to the maintenance of periodontal health.

XP Pro Thin Instruments

QUIK-TIPS

Pro Thin instruments with significantly thinner tips are also available as screw-in Quik-Tips. The handles can be reused if working ends are replaced.

Furthermore, instrument tips can be combined as desired – the colour of the handle can be selected on an individual basis according to your needs.

As with the Pro Thin complete instruments, Pro Thin Quik- Tips do not need to be sharpened thanks to the patented XP Technology. The instrument therefore always retains its shape.

Boge 513™ is the perfect instrument for supragingival debridement in the anterior region of the lower jaw. The hoe tip has an elongated shank and an even, slightly curved, sharp cutting edge. The optimal width enables stable positioning of the cutting edge on lingual or facial tooth surfaces. The fine Nebraska 128 tip is sickle-shaped and ideal for interproximal contact areas as well as teeth with crowding and/or recessions.

Sharpening Material

Sharpening (Do not sharpen XP instruments!)

YOUR SHARPENING NEEDS IN ONE EASY KIT

Sharpening is usually inconvenient, tedious and challenging. However, it is important to maintain sharp edges on your curettes and scalers. The Simply Sharp Stone Kit is designed with your special requirements in mind. The double-sided stone offers you the choice of an extra-fine surface on one side and coarse grit on the other. The kit also includes a powerful 10x magnifier for examining your edges. A sharpening test stick is also included.

SHARPENING TECHNIQUE

1. Using the 10x magnifier, inspect the instrument blade.

2. Sharpen your instrument as usual, then test sharpness using the test stick.

3. Use the magnifier to inspect the angle, edge contour, and edge sharpness. A sharp edge does not reflect light.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the desired edge profile is achieved.

5. Check your instruments regularly to maintain sharpness.

METHOD 1

Move the sharpening stone while holding the instrument in place. The edge is visible while the stone is moved at the correct angle, producing a sharp edge.

METHOD 2

Move the instrument while holding the sharpening stone in place. This method creates less fatigue. However, maintaining the correct instrument angle may be more difficult, due to the inability to see the edge while moving the instrument.

XP TECHNOLOGY™

Smoother than ever, thanks to XP! American Eagle composite plastic filling instruments, as well as the instruments in the Dr. Mopper and Dr. Colonna series, are coated with XP technology™. The nanooptimised, super-hard, scratchresistant surface reliably prevents the composite sticking to the instrument.

DR. BELVERDE EXCLUSIVE HANDLES

The instruments in the Dr. Belvedere series have serrated, oval heads to enable better transport and good adaptation of the composite. The lightweight handle which is flattened in an area makes handling easier when applying composite material. The instrument is wellbalanced in the user‘s hand.

DR. BLACK’S FORMULA

Dr. Black‘s formula is based on the concept of instrument symmetry. This is achieved by keeping the blade of the instrument within 2 mm of the longitudinal axis of the handle. Proper symmetry is necessary to achieve optimal cutting with minimal effort.

Some instruments, such as margin trimmers, are constructed with a cutting edge at an angle other than a right angle. In these cases, a fourth number is integrated into the formula, which indicates the degree of angle of the cutting edge to the longitudinal axis of the handle. we D elstea Dt 5-6 (15-15-3) AE C 5-6W

MULTIFUNCTIONAL

The excavators, which are used to remove carious dentine, have two different working ends: a spoonshaped end, especially useful in deep, carious areas, and a round end for toothconserving cavity preparations.
