2021 Year in Review: Elevating Business for Good

ELEVATING BUSINESS FOR GOOD 2021 was a year like no other. Companies banded together to uplift our communities and support their employees during times of crisis. Though virtual, we came together to share our learning, develop new strategies, take collective action and build resiliency. As an organization, we deepened our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to advance racial equity. And we continued to support the Colorado Companies Uniting Against Racism pledge signers with resources to encourage companies to commit to meaningful action. Together, we proved that collective action and social responsibility are more important than ever. We are stronger and more resilient together. Through everything, the generosity of the B:CIVIC community has kept us inspired and helped us focus on our purpose – to elevate business for good. We know we have something very special here in Colorado and we are committed to growing our impact, together. Thank you for all your continued support!

DOING WELL BY DOING GOOD Sharing Resources and Creating Connections

To deliver on our commitment to create connections, share expertise and inspire action, we gathered over 1,800 professionals virtually through 31 programs, events and training opportunities. Our offerings ranged from social impact storytelling, trust-based philanthropy, virtual engagement and partnership best practices. We focused on creating connections through our corporate social responsibility (CSR) and small business peer roundtables, Ask Me Anything series and leadership panels. To support companies in their efforts to effectively respond to all types of disasters and build resiliency in our community, we developed the Planning for Resilience: Disaster Response toolkit. The toolkit features effective strategies modeled by 12 local companies.

Partnering for Impact

We enhanced partnerships to extend our reach with CSR Solutions of Colorado, Denver Good Business Week, the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and TIED Roundtable. Together, we inspired organizations to enhance their social responsibility and diversity, equity and inclusion strategies.

Advancing the Work

B:CIVIC has partnered with the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder since 2016 on the CCSR certification program, designed to address the evolving needs of CSR practitioners, nonprofit partners and those looking to engage in CSR. To advance our mission, we provided three needs-based partial scholarships for participation in the CCSR program. The purpose of the scholarship is to increase community leaders’ engagement in the field of CSR and offer them direct experience to inform their social impact work.

Helping us do more good, Together.

Our board of directors are leaders who are committed to elevate business for good and advance social responsibility here in Colorado. Meet our board of directors.

By taking the Colorado Companies Uniting Against Racism pledge, companies committed to develop action steps for their companies to combat racism by listening, learning and leading more effectively as companies. ACT TO ACHIEVE 2021 B:CIVIC SUMMIT Thank you to all who joined for Act to Achieve | CSR Accelerated presented by Delta Dental of Colorado and VF Corporation We hope you walked away inspired, energized and with an expanded toolkit of best practices to advance your work in social responsibility. The 36 local and national thought leaders that joined the Summit challenged us to think differently about how to tell our story, encouraged us to develop cross-industry partnerships to drive impact, inspired a sustainability movement, and in the words of Diane Primo with Purpose Brand Agency, “The next 10 years are about impact. It’s about positioning your organization around purpose and showing what that impact is.” A special thanks to our committee who worked tirelessly to bring this year’s Summit to life. Additionally, a huge thank you to our sponsors, particularly our Presenting Sponsors, Delta Dental of Colorado and VF Corporation. Access the full recap.
