DePaul’s criminal law program has a well-deserved reputation for preparing criminal lawyers through both specialized courses and valuable real-world experience. A comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of criminal law is provided, and faculty work closely with students on research projects, externship placements and client representation.
To earn a certificate in criminal law, you must complete the 86 credits required for the JD degree. Within the required coursework, you must complete at least 15 credit hours from the approved course list and earn a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the certificate courses. If you take more than 15 hours from the approved list, all grades earned in those courses will be factored into the GPA requirement for the certificate.
