Llm Programs
Health Law
DePaul College of Law’s health law program has been a leader in the education of future generations of health law partners, policy makers and critical thinkers since its inception in 1984. The program offers students opportunities to participate in community and business related programming, as well as groundbreaking research and policy reform. Guided by outstanding full-time faculty and leading health law attorneys, the curriculum evolves as the field of health care law changes.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The College of Law’s intellectual property law and information technology (IP/IT) program has stood at the forefront of IP/IT legal education since its inception 25 years ago. The program’s unique interdisciplinary learning experience combines one of the most diverse and cutting-edge IP/IT curricula in the country with innovative scholarship and research, outstanding career development opportunities and mentoring, and an unparalleled range of extracurricular opportunities. This comprehensive approach prepares LLM students for the ever-changing needs of law, business and technology.
International Law
The LLM in International Law emphasizes the theoretical background and practical skills that lawyers need to excel in international law practice. The program is designed for both experienced attorneys and recent law school graduates who wish to earn an advanced degree in one of the following concentrations:
– International Business, Commercial & Trade Law
– International Cultural Heritage Law
– International Governance & Rule of Law
– International Human Rights Law & Policy and Criminal Justice
U.S. LEGAL STUDIES
The LLM in U.S. Legal Studies is designed for those who received their first degree in law outside the United States. Students participate in special courses introducing them to the differences between civil and common law systems, the foundations of the U.S. legal system, the method of legal reasoning and analysis, and the basics of legal writing in the U.S. legal system. Additionally, the program provides students with the opportunity to meet the course requirements to sit for the bar exam in a select group of states. Students are responsible for understanding the bar exam requirements for any jurisdiction to which they seek admission.
Degree Requirements
– Students must complete 24 credit hours of coursework at the College of Law within the approved LLM curriculum.
– LLM candidates must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Program Features
– Students may complete the program through either an intensive, one-year course of full-time study or a more flexible, part-time schedule.
– Students can choose from courses offered in the day or evening to provide flexibility in scheduling around professional and personal demands.
