DePaul College of Law’s faculty is a dynamic blend of leading scholars and respected practitioners who inspire learning. Professors are renowned experts and widely published in their fields, and adjunct professors are selected from among the most prominent attorneys in Chicago. Our faculty focuses on innovative programs of instruction and brings diverse and thoughtful perspectives to the classroom. DePaul law graduates serve in leadership positions in some of the most prestigious law firms, businesses and community service organizations in Chicago and beyond. They are CEOs, CFOs and executives of worldwide corporations. They practice law in all 50 states and more than 20 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, India, Germany and China. More than 350 current and retired state and federal judges and some of the nation’s top trial lawyers are DePaul College of Law graduates, along with public officials at all levels of government and nationally recognized advocates for social justice and human rights.
Prospective students must have received a primary law degree from an accredited U.S. law school or a foreign law school, or will have received such a degree prior to matriculation.
When To Apply
Early application is recommended. DePaul College of Law has a rolling admissions process and reviews applications as soon as they are completed. Applicants should submit all required materials by the deadline for the term for which they wish to apply.
Fall Semester (begins in August): July 1
Spring Semester (begins in January): November 1
How To Apply
Applicants should submit the following materials in order to be considered for admission:
– Completed application
– $40 application fee
– Personal statement
– Résumé
– Two letters of recommendation
– Official law school transcript
Applicants who have earned primary law degrees from international institutions also should submit
– TOEFL/IELTS/DET score (minimum 90 on the iBT, 577 on the PBT, 6.5 on the IELTS or 115 on the Duolingo English Test).
– Evaluated law school transcript. Transcripts may be evaluated by LSAC, CAS, WES, ECE or from another organization approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
Conditional Admission For International Law Graduates
DePaul College of Law offers conditional admission for students who otherwise have a strong overall academic record, but do not meet the minimum English language proficiency. To apply for conditional admission, a student must present one of the following scores:
– 60-89 on the iBT TOEFL test
– 500-576 on the paper-based TOEFL test
– 6.0 on the IELTS test
- 95 on the Duolingo English Test
If granted conditional admission, an applicant may enroll in DePaul’s English Language Academy (ELA).
To formally begin studies in the LLM program, an applicant who has been conditionally admitted must either successfully complete ELA’s University Bridge Certificate or otherwise demonstrate the necessary English language proficiency (90 on the iBT, 577 on the PBT, 115 on the Duolingo English Test or 6.5 on the IELTS).
