LA BO A typical Spanish Catalan martket, it has historically always been a reference for Catalan restauranteurs, providing products only from Catolinia and other parts of the world. Produces consisting of harvesters, buchers and fishmongers providing fresh food to their customers.

QUERIA La Bouqueria a designer and food lovers dream. A great atomosphere full of people from all around the world all attracted by the quality of the food and asthetically pleasing atomosphere. People eat, shop and gossip together doing what the Spanish typically do, living life.

KIOSKO

At the cornor of Born sits a restaurant known to have perfected the art of burger flipping. Kiosko specialises in fancy gourmet burgers - beef, salmon, chicken or veggie- customished at will or picked from the list of house specialities, like the Austrailian (red beet, bacon and cheddar) served with homemade condiments al gusto.

CHUPA CHUPS Chupar Spanish word meaning ‘to suck’ is where Chupa Chups derives from. In Catalan meaning “it’s round and long lasting”. One of Spains sweetest inventions. The logo was originally designed by artist Salvador Dali in 1969. It’s first marketing campaign as the logo with the slogon ‘Es rodo’ i dura molt’. Consisting of almost 50 flavours it has become a world wide success loved by everyone.

LUKUMAS

Lukumas the greek word for doughnuts giving the cafe its name. The doughnuts are made every day and they even sell Fairtrade coffee, in a city of heavy coffee drinkers. There is quite a selection of candy coloured, icing topped varieties to choose from including ring doughnuts which are the classic lukumas, filled strogylo of chocolate hazelnut or various creams, lukumaki which take the sweet filled ones to another level with an iced topping and for those who can stand the sugar hit elkler which have double fillings.

STREET ART

Barcelona is full of innovative imagery all over. The city is litereally painted and full of life with colourful works of art. The graffiti in Barcelona really does depict this creative city, it is home to Picasso, Dali & Gaudi. These great men have are forever inspiring to this artisic city.

GA Spain’s most famous architect is Antoi Gaudi. Barcelona’s most famous landmark, La Sagrada Familia was designed by Gaudi, as were Park Guell, La Pedrera and Casa Batllo. Born in Catalonia, Gaudi’s work has had a lasting impression on Barcelona with his Art Nouveau architecture.

UDI The Gaudi tour starts of at Placa Real just off Las Ramblas, and then goes up Passeig de Gracia, taking in Casa Batllo and La Pedrera before verring off to the east of La Sagrada Familia and ends at Parc Guell. CIUTA

The Parc de la Ciutadella is very idyllic and probably the greenest oasis in the city of Barcelona. It invites you to relax, to rebound and go for long walks, as well as for picnics, you can also go boat riding.

DELLA

On the grounds of the Parc, there are serveral attractions: the zoo and the Catalan Parliament. The Museu d’Art Modetn is situated in the building of the parliament. The Zoological Musuem and the Museu de Geologia are there too.

ARC DE

Built as an archway entrance for the 1888 Universal Exhibition, the arch is found as a large promenade leading up to Park of the Ciutadella. Across the front it reads ‘Barcelona Welcomes the Nations’.

TRIOMF

The red brick and in neo- Moorish style built Arc de Triomf’s located about 300 metres from the Parc de la Ciutadella, the site of the World Fair of 1888. The sculpture Homage to Picasso, the famous sculptor Tà pies and an artificial build moat evaluates the road.

CASA ASIA

Casa Asia is a Spanish Modernist building created to make a strong link with Spain, Asia and the Pacific. Centre of Barcelona built between 1904 and 1906 with neogothic and Islamic influences, also inspired by Viennese modernism. Casa Asia gives Europe a bit of Asia which can be see in their collection of multimedia information.

Colour is a prominent part of Spanish culture and is expressed through many means. From artists like Pablo Picasso to Salvador Dali, the Spanish culture do not need to prove their creativity.

SITGES

Sitges a Spanish town Southwest of Barcelona is a place to visit for a good beach. There are a number of beautiful beaches, including a couple of nudist beaches. Sitges is also a popular gay resort. There are also some specifically gay nudist beaches in Sitges. Facundo Bacardi was from Sitges there is a Rum Museum in Sitges to commemorate this.October 5-14 sees the the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia.
