Case Study Alise Silde Alise came to study in the United Kingdom because she was familiar with the language and culture. She chose Derby because we are one of very few universities offering a course in BSc (Hons) Computer Forensics and Security, that also includes a placement year. “Derby is a great place for students with approachable staff and good support. It is also a great place to socialise, as there are student societies to fit most interests. I have found the International Society a great way of meeting new people and expanding my cultural knowledge.” Being a student here has given Alise the opportunity to gain a lot of useful experience both academically, and in a working environment. She has worked for IBM in her placement year as well as working with the International Student Centre organising events for other international students. “I feel that this degree and the experience I have gained at Derby is a very strong stepping stone to my future career in computing. I have definitely become a better specialist and professional, and I am a lot more confident in finding suitable employment when I graduate.” “Derby is a great place for students with approachable staff and good support.”
