Case Study Xiong Zhuwei Xiong came to the University of Derby to study BA (Hons) Computer Games Modelling and Animation because of the affordable tuition fees. The work produced by the current Games Modelling and Animation (CGMA) students also really impressed him. Since starting his course Xiong has developed a range of skills including learning a new way of thinking, aesthetics and improving his ability in analysing and solving problems independently. He found the staff in the International Student Centre (ISC) helpful by offering him support to renew his visa, setting up his bank account and generally being available should he need them. Studying at the University of Derby has enabled Xiong to study a Masters in filmmaking in the USA, laying the groundwork for future study and development and improving his English at the same time. “I hope that the University of Derby can attract more Chinese students to study in various disciplines as I believe the opportunities are here for them.�
