Case Study Matas Zaloga and Ugne Dagilyte Matas and Ugne, both from Lithuania, came to study on the University of Derby’s BA (Hons) Animation course, which they successfully completed this summer (2013). Matas and Ugne have both been very active during their degrees, undertaking commercial animation and illustration contracts, as well as setting up their own business – Zazu Studio Ltd based in Pride Park in Derby – which they established whilst still on the course. Shortly before completing their degrees the couple, and fellow student Harriet Farren, were approached by the University to create an animated TV commercial to spearhead the current student recruitment campaign, entitled ‘Are You Ready?’ (See Youtube.com and search ‘Are You Ready Derby University’). Ugne, from Šventoji, near the Baltic Sea, added: “This has been a very important project for us and for the company. We’ve had commissions from other clients but this will be our first nationally broadcast TV commercial. The University has shown real faith in us”
