Accounting Joint Honours Where you will study: Derby Campus – Kedleston Road site Entry requirements: Academic – 220-300 UCAS tariff points, of which at least 200-240 must be from your International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification. About the course This degree equips you with a sound knowledge of accounting and business which will enable you to take up a management position in industry and commerce. You’ll be offered an accounting curriculum that is up to date, vocationally relevant and reflects the complex and challenging nature of the accounting and business environment.
How you’ll learn The programme has been designed to give you the basic knowledge, background and skills during your first year. In your second year you will learn more advanced techniques and be introduced to specialisms within the accounting subject. Your final year will see you tackle complicated accounting and ethical issues and you will work more independently.

Your career Accounting is the ideal course to combine with another subject so that you gain a valuable awareness of financial language, budget and accounting information. Our students have gone on to work in accountancy firms as management accountants in business or have entered general management positions. With an accounting background, you will have the opportunity to work in many diverse fields, anywhere in the world. We’ve designed the degree so you get some exemptions from a number of professional accounting bodies. This shortens the time required for you to become a fully qualified member of your chosen professional body.
Additional information With joint honours, you can study for an honours degree in two or even three subjects. You can study Accounting as either a major, joint or minor pathway. You will be assigned a personal tutor to assist you throughout the degree who will ensure that you maximise the opportunities provided by personal development planning. All of our accounting lecturers are professionally qualified with years of experience in different aspects of accounting and are always available to help you with your career and development options.
