Why choose this course? This is a studio practice based course that incorporates undergraduate and postgraduate study, so you’ll graduate with a masters degree. You’ll work on a number of live projects to prepare you for a career in the field of animation.

About the course This course explores animation to enable you to produce broadcast quality animations for the commercial world, or to communicate your own personal ideas. You’ll explore sequential and interactive image making, 2D and 3D animation,

Your career After you've graduated from this distinctive course, you'll be one step ahead of others in the graduate jobs market. You will achieve a Masters award at the end of four years study without needing to change universities or find postgraduate funding. And you'll already have a highly professional and innovative showreel of creative animation work. After graduation your career options will include animation for advertising, film, television and TV titles, games design, animation for web design, as a designer in a creative studio, in educational animation or as a freelance animator. Some students also go on to teaching.

Course fees: £10,225 per year*

You'll be taught through a range of teaching and learning methods throughout the programme, in keeping with the aims and emphasis of particular modules. This includes: project work, workshop practice, lectures, demonstrations, seminars, group critiques, work checks, individual tutorials, field study, cultural visits, reports, and assignments.

You will gain knowledge and skills in the creative application and digital software for animation, experimenting with state of the art equipment and resources that are constantly updated.

Entry requirements: Academic – 260 UCAS tariff points, of which at least 220 must be from your International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification.

We are members of the Association of Illustrators (AOI) and D&AD (Designers and Art Direction).

Stage two You’ll choose from: ­▪ Design Strategies ▪ Sequential Illustration ▪ Digital Moving Images.

During the course you’ll be encouraged to enter national competitions to develop your portfolio and CV when you graduate. You’ll also have the opportunity to exhibit your final year work as part of our degree show. This creative festival allows you to showcase your work and make vital industry contacts, and it’s a really high profile event in the city’s arts calendar.
