Teaching and learning During this course you will spend 170 days in work placements where you can apply the theory you learn into practice. We understand that everyone learns in different ways. We have an elective range of assessments including written assignments, presentations, role play and exams. What you will cover We have great links with our partners in the local and surrounding areas, so we can provide you with the effective practical experience you will need.

About the course Social workers form partnerships with people, helping them to assess and interpret the problems they face and supporting them in finding solutions. This course will provide you with the skills and theories that will enable you to work in a range of settings. This course is professionally accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and it will enable you to apply to the HCPC to register as a qualified social worker. Our Social Work courses were rated as fully meeting the national standards set by the General Social Care Council; we were one of only 14 institutions across the country to meet these requirements.

Additional information Many members of our teaching team are qualified and registered social workers with many years of working in the sector. They will support you throughout your studies and are always up to date with the latest theory and practice to pass down to you. Your career There’s a growing demand for qualified social workers who can work in a variety of fields. You could work with issues including child protection, vulnerable adults, mental health, disability, older adults and youth justice. This could be in Multi Agency Teams (MATs), hospitals, day centres, area offices, residential centres, voluntary sectors and schools.
You will also be expected to continue your professional development to keep up to date with trends in the sector. We offer a post qualifying course in Interprofessional Practice Education for Social Workers which will allow you to apply for positions as a practice teacher within your workplace.
The knowledge, skills and values learnt throughout the past three years will benefit me greatly throughout future practice in the social work field. Gemma Holland Graduate
