This course is a unique combination of the design, technology and science of architecture, sustainability and construction. It is founded on the core subject knowledge requirements of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). What makes it unique are its live projects and its integrated environmental approach to the design and application of CAD and BIM technology, digital designs and building simulation systems. These have been carefully nurtured since the course began.

Entry requirements: Academic – 260 UCAS tariff points, of which at least 220 must be from your International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification.

Options
You’ll be based at Markeaton Street where you’ll use the latest software including SketchUp, ArchiCAD, Revit Architecture, Adobe Photoshop, 3ds Max Design, Ecotect and IES.
Stage two You’ll choose from: ▪ Design Communication ▪ Services and Sustainable Design.
You’ll be able to get involved in live design competitions, and you can also gain valuable industry experience on a work placement between stages two and three. This also gives you an additional qualification – the Diploma in Professional Practice. You will also exhibit your final year work at our degree show, which allows you to showcase your work and make vital industry contacts. Graduates also exhibit in local and national shows such as Free Range in London. If you don’t have the appropriate qualifications to start this course, you can apply to study the Technology Foundation Programme for a year first.
Diploma in Professional Practice You’ll take: ▪ Applied Professional Practice ▪ Contemporary Issues in Professional Practice. Stage three You’ll choose from: ▪ Sustainable Design Analysis ▪ Advanced Technical Design and Detailing.
