About the course This course is a unique combination of the design, technology and science of architecture, sustainability and construction. It is founded on the core subject knowledge requirements of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). What makes it unique are its live projects and its integrated environmental approach to the design and application of CAD and BIM technology, digital designs and building simulation systems. These have been carefully nurtured since the course began. Teaching and learning Practical architectural design and technology projects will form the basis of your study, supported by management, procurement and contracts as well as professional practice studies. We also regularly have industry experts as guest lecturers.

Additional information You will be based at Markeaton Street where you will use the latest software including SketchUp, ArchiCAD, Revit Architecture, Adobe Photoshop, 3ds Max Design, Ecotect and IES. You will be able to get involved in live design competitions, and you can also gain valuable industry experience on a work placement between stages two and three. This also gives you an additional qualification – the Diploma in Professional Practice. You will also exhibit your final year work at our degree show, which allows you to showcase your work and make vital industry contacts. Graduates also exhibit in local and national shows such as Free Range in London. If you don’t have the appropriate qualifications to start this course, you can apply to study the Technology Foundation Programme for a year first.
