If you love dance, drama, music or art and think it’s played an important part in your own development, and you want to develop your skills so that you can work creatively with others, then this course is for you. You can specialise in dance, drama, music or art to develop your artistic ability. This will involve studio, performance and exhibition work. You’ll learn about the potential of creativity and the arts to promote wellbeing in various sectors.

Your career You’ll gain transferable skills from this course such as effective communication, personal development and leadership skills, which you’ll be able to apply to a range of different settings. You may decide to work in community arts, set up your own business or work creatively with people in different settings. This is also a great stepping stone to further study in therapeutic arts. You could choose MA Art Therapy, Dance Therapy, Music Therapy or Dramatherapy, which will lead to registration as an arts therapist. You could take further training to be a teacher, a social worker or a human resource manager.

What you’ll cover

AUTUMN

Language – A qualification such as IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all areas) or TOEFL – 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), 80 (internet based). See our website for other accepted qualifications or phone us: +44 (0)1332 591698.

You’ll develop your personal and professional skills to prepare you for your first job.

Entry requirements: Academic – 240 UCAS tariff points, of which at least 200 must be from your International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification.

Additional information You’ll learn in our fantastic, specialist facilities. There are dedicated art, dance and music studios and we have a new learning theatre at Derby Theatre. We’ve also got strong links with Déda – the Derby dance centre. You’ll go on placements to develop your understanding of the impact that creative interventions can have on wellbeing.
