About the course In the final stage, you will specialise in modules such as lean engineering, advanced materials, manufacturing strategy and systems, as well as ethical and environmental considerations in engineering. All of these subjects are essential to a modern manufacturing engineer. You will also take an individual project module to extend your research and development skills and to give you real experience of solving an engineering problem in industry. It’s an excellent way for prospective employers to assess your skills for your first job or for career development.

Independent Study and Professional Development (Manufacturing)
Options Stage Two You will choose one of these modules: Innovation and Engineering Context Computer Integrated Manufacturing. Diploma in Professional Practice (optional) You will take: Applied Professional Practice Contemporary Issues in Professional Practice. Stage Three You will choose one of these modules: Advanced Engineering Materials and Applications Industrial Engineering. Additional information Between the second and third year you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and
knowledge in industry by completing an optional work placement for a year. On completion of two modules, you will be awarded the Diploma in Professional Practice. If you don’t have the appropriate qualifications to start this course, you can apply to study the Technology Foundation Programme for a year first. Your career This course will prepare you to become an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) within the manufacturing or engineering industries. So you will be ready for careers in manufacturing engineering, lean engineering and in applications of advanced materials. You could go on to take our MSc in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.
