About the course This course values and encourages imaginative and inventive approaches to photography and supports all types of work, including black and white, colour and digital.

Your career Students who've taken this course have gone on to be artists, academics, teachers, curators, critics, commercial photographers, picture editors, and news and sports photographers. You could also continue your studies by taking our MA Film and Photography course. We also provide support for graduates starting out in the creative industries through our incubation unit - Banks Mill. It offers studio workspace and business development activities, in a vibrant and thriving community of artists, designers and makers.

The course will be taught by a combination of workshops and lectures to introduce new concepts and knowledge; seminars to enable group discussions; critiques to learn to communicate about students’ own work and to give and receive constructive feedback; small group tutorials to encourage the development of ideas, individual tutorials to monitor progress and clarify direction; group research activities to encourage team working and individual presentations to develop communication skills.

AUTUMN

Language – A qualification such as IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all areas) or TOEFL – 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), 80 (internet based). See our website for other accepted qualifications or phone us: +44 (0)1332 591698.

The degree finishes with a professional final exhibition at our degree show, where you'll have the opportunity to make vital industry contacts at the Private View evening.

What you’ll cover

STAGE THREE

Entry requirements: Academic – 260 UCAS tariff points, of which at least 220 must be from your International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification.

We’ll encourage you to enter national and international competitions and festivals while you’re studying.

Options

We have extensive studios, black and white and colour darkrooms, film processing facilities, dedicated digital suites, photographic studios and an extensive studio equipment store.

Diploma in Professional Practice (optional)

You can gain vital industry experience during an optional work placement year, between stages two and three. You’ll study two modules and will gain the additional qualification of the Diploma in Professional Practice. If you don't have the appropriate qualifications to start this course, you can apply to study our Year Zero (Art and Design) course for a year first.
