You will build up the knowledge and practical skills that are essential in a wide variety of careers from film art department assistants, set designers and decorators, scenic artists and production designers/makers in the theatre art, film and television sectors. Teaching and learning A wide variety of teaching and learning methods are used, including lectures, seminars, collaborative work, tutorials, practical workshops, screenings, peer group critiques and discussion, negotiated study and independent study.

You will explore the exciting and challenging area of production design and be able to fully engage with a range of traditional and new technologies showing an awareness of staging potentials and genre, 2D/3D development and interpretive skills.

Derby Theatre is in the heart of the city centre and will enable you to gain vital work experience in all forms of theatre production and management. Derby Theatre presents major professional productions as well as amateur shows, so you will get the best hands on experience possible and learn your craft in a unique environment.
